Anyone out there know about how much power you can out through a th 350 with a T.C.I. performance rebuild kit. It has a jegs converter, manual valve body and about 500 hp.
73 vette 496, tunnel ram pro systems 950's and way too much cam!

I ran a 6 cyl. TH350 (less clutches) with a quality rebuild and TransGo auto/manual shift kit. Put 200+ passes on it behind a 450-480 HP SBC before the 2nd gear sprag let go. 3600 lb car, which makes a difference as well.
Been running a TH350 with extra clutches, manual VB and BTE steel direct drum and 36-element sprag behind a 730 HP SBC. No other changes. Somewhere around 80 passes and a bunch of chassis dyno pulls on that combo.
Shooting for 850+ HP on the next engine and am upgrading to an aluminum fwd drum with 300M input shaft. Next freshen will likely get an aluminum direct drum as well.
There are two ways to go fast. Make more power or use a more efficient drivetrain or both.
My advice would be to use a VB that does not HAMMER the 1-2 shift. Nice and crisp and FAST, but not harsh. Combine that with hardened outer race should work well for a good while with the proper burnout procedure. The 36-element sprag/direct drum will for sure get it done.

There are plenty ofcars inthe low 9's with th350 's @ around 3200lbs.There is another car that hasbeen 8's.
First tip is to do a high gear burn out, if you dont have the power then startin 2nd and click 3rd as soon asyou have wheel speed. he 36 element sprag is a choice you have to make as theyalso break. You can use a HD outter race and a factory type sprag.Leave the accmulator in for the 1-2 shift as this will help the trans out alot.also the wave plate for low gear. Use 5-5-3 clutch packs.
Another thing is a shitty cheap converter will come apart or cause alot of heat eiterof which will hurt the trans
