2 3/8 (2.375) REAR CAM PLUG FOR DART BLOCK

Post by BEDNAR1320 »

I'm having a problem locating a source for the rear cam plug for a dart iron eagle sbc block with bbc cam journals,it takes a 2 3/8" (2.375) shallow plug,I've tried NAPA,CARQUEST and some local supply stores with no luck,I can't believe that this should be a big deal  If anybody knows a source or maybe the dorman or pioneer part number please let me know, thanks in advance.

I believe you need a EPC-92 Pioneer Soft Plug. It is a reverse taper
soft plug. I'm pretty sure that is what you need. Same as a Little M
block.

Thanks for the reply, yes that is the the correct plug-I got the part number from Dart. The original application is the Ford FE (352,390,etc) motor, just don't let anyone know that I have a Ford part in my motor!!

LOL, My lips are sealed! The plug goes in the block backwards,
just like the FE Ford motors. :D

The cup part of the plug goes in towards the cam and the flat back
side of the plug faces out towards the flywheel. I think the old Ford FE blocks had a lip in the cam tunnel so you would tap the soft plug in
until it hit that lip, so it would only go in so far. I guess Dart must
have thought that was the hot set-up and did it on their blocks. :D
