Last weekend I raced the Z28 and after lots of work, fighting to make the car hook on a poorly prepped strip #-o , fighting a carb hesitation at staring line and a fuel pressure problem (probably the pump bypass wasn't holding fuel pressure all the way through the pass) I managed to lower my best et to 1.45 sixty foot , 4.16 330 foot and 6.45s @ 108.25 mph on a hot 90°F day !!

Overhere, never before a true street strip car like mine ran these times! So yes, I'm very happy with the new results. I believe I can fine tune the suspension and carbs better, and maybe run a 6.3s in the eight mile. That might be the first high nines, all motor, pump gas street-strip car in Brazil!!

:D You have done an amazing job with this car, Diego! I am so very happy for you. Keep an eye on all critical components. As you go faster, they will be stressed more and more.

Yes I'll keep not one, but two eyes on the rear suspension and drivetrain components :)

This video you posted above was made by a buddy.

My car was on the stands because I had the fuel pump dissasembled early Sunday, then I reassembled it and was testing the fuel pressure , heating the transmisson and rear axle before the runs.

Thanks !

I didn't race yet since the last time. :)

Here is the deal, the good event to race is the Regional Championship (Campeonato Gaucho), they prep the strip pretty well (at most times) and we have all the weekend to race, they have a class for street V8 Cars like mine, but the next event is 16/17th July.

So I have to wait a little to try that 6.3XX ET :) .

July is cold here, about 50°F so the engine might gain some HP and MPH with the dense air. Funny thing is, I'm at the speed limit to NOT be called to use a parachute. :D :D but I don't care, I'll try to bring good news next time.Wish me luck.

I'm also looking foward to our coin get some value, so I can import a few speedy parts :D

Thanks for asking Fella.

Hello fellas,

Unfortunatally there's no good news from the race this weekend...I couldn't make a full pass.

On the firts pass of the saturday, I did a nice burnout and staged the car as I always do,then launched the car and here comes a wheelie, but when the front end came back to the ground I felt two violent strokes on the rear end....this was the first time she wheelhopped and broke the ring and pinnion.

Those were standard Motive gears 4:30s. I'll get pro gears this time to hopefully survive the hit better.

The slicks had the same air pressure, caltracs had the same preload as before...I'm suspecting a bad track prep caused she to wheel hop but IDK.

Today I fully disassembled the diferential and I'm relieved because only the ring and pinnion are junk. Thanks God the transmission and engine are ok.

I guess this also makes part of our sport, one day you're up at the podium and the other they you're up at the ramp truck :D

Thanks for the words!

Sorry to hear about the damage to your differential, Diego. That is the way of it when you are pushing the limit. As you break things and fix them and then are able to put more and more power through them, the weak link becomes the next part to break as power increases with each subsequent fix.

Wish you all the best in making repairs and getting her back on the track.

Best regards,

Harry
