I don't know what this intake is.. Says patented 1976 .. Whoever had it did a nice polish job on it . It is a scorpion or old torquer intake ? I got it in a deal of a car I sold .. I know I seen it before online and they were said not to be a great intake, but people like them for "cool" spider look and angled carb .. Anyone want to inform me of a story? 76 was four years before my birth..
I used to have an ancient single plane edelbrock for a small block, this one is a square port BBC
Now I know where the X factor symbol was plagerized from

Oh if anyone wants this 70s piece of eye candy to tell " catch the dollar bill on the dash " stories , I am willing to trade for something I might need

Pretty sure it's the BBC Torker of the day. A buddy had one on his '70 Monte Carlo SS454.

Around the same time Edelbrock cast the Torquer, Tarantula, and Scorpion and I think they
had a version of each for both the big and small block. They all had the "X" layout.
I think the carb pad was twisted on the big block in an attempt to even out the port/runner length.
Crap! I'm feelin' real old all of a sudden.

Over the hill but still learning!
Retaining it is the hard part.

I had the Oval Port Tarantula version of this manifold.
TM-2-O.. It worked well. There was also a `Scorpion`subset version of this that had a deeper carb plenum depth than compared to the `Tarantula`` version.
The Torker version had a bit smaller plenum depth and a bit smaller runners than the Tarantula.
It worked well on my 454.
I swapped to the Torker II 2-O newer low rise version cause I needed hood clearance with a nitrous plate..
What a difference. It was like loosing 50HP and 50Ft/lbs torque compared to the Trantula on my 454.
What a DOG.
The modern Victor JR and Holley Strip Dominator BBC single plane manifolds with curved runners are better
manifolds than these old X single planes, but this Tarantula was not bad.

I put an earlier version of that manifold on my brother's 435 HP '67 Corvette back in 1971, with an 850 Holley. The combination worked better than the original factory tri -power... it gave a noticeable power gain. We were happy with it at the time, but that was 46 years ago. Believe it or not, my brother still has that manifold.
