I put 24 of these in my 28 x 40, not quite as bright as outdoors.

24 of them in a 28x40, you gonna need sunglasses. i picked up 4 of them to add to my existing, and thats going to be a big difference.

Dave Koehler, thanks for the pointer. I bought a ten pack of those 3k Lumen units from Unli Unli on eBay since he is very close to me as well. It is like daylight in my 700ish square foot shop now! $95 plus another $60 in connector cables since I didn't realize they didn't come with them. I was going to splice the connectors they do send with NM cable but decided that would be more time than it was worth. Home Depot had the 5ft connectors in stock for $7 each.

Most welcome.
What are these connectors you speak of?
I did not need to buy anything extra.

Old thread I guess but Menards now carries 8ft hardwired LED's. Waited for the 11% off deal and got 8 of them. Think they're 5K spectrum and very nice for $80 each. great investment for any shop.. wish I'd have done it sooner!

I got 5' long connector cables instead of hard wiring the stubs (pigtails) that came with them into a bunch of junction boxes. I figured at $6-7 a piece for the 5' ready made cables I was money and time ahead rather than running NM wire and boxes. That vendor also sells the connector cables so you may have gotten a different package than I did.

A local discount store has 4 ft LED shop lights for $15 ea. The price is reduced by the utility Co. 4100 lumen 40W 5000k color. I put up ten of them in a 440 sq/ft room, replacing /rehabbing fluorescent fixtures. The improvement is dramatic.

I was planning on buying some 8ft LED tubes, but instead, removed the existing old reflectors and screwed two of the four foot shop lights to each one. I just cut of the plugs and wired the cords to the line inside the existing trough. I’m very happy with the results.

Once a few more of the old 8' bulbs in my garage die I'm going LED. Sam's Club has these Honeywell fixtures that are very tempting:

https://www.samsclub.com/sams/linkable- ... roduct:1:2

They are very similar to the ones at menards but a little brighter (4500 vs 4200 lumens), a little more efficient (42 vs 50 watts), and of course a bit more expensive. One is $35 but a 10 pack is $300 so the same price. Up to 10 can be linked in a chain with the included 5' and 6" cables so wiring is easy, and they are Energy Star 2.0 rated if your utility or state has a rebate program. Anyway, just another option if you shop at Sam's Club (or have a friend who does :-)).
I have been using the Sam's club lights to upgrade the lights in my new shop and have been very happy with them the color is good for a shop and they are easy to put up and link together ...

Went yesterday to our local Menards. They had the 8' footers but you have to use a "intastart" ballast. So , I dig though all their ballasts to find one and they had none for the required 75 watt bulbs. I left empty handed.
Everyone appreciates your honesty , until you're honest with them , then you're an @$$hole.

Are you sure you were looking at the complete units? They're the same light as the 4 footers, 2 lights wide, only double lenghted enclosed in an 8' housing. Plug and play type deals with the ballasts preinstalled. On my phone now.. will pm you the link or post it here later.

I have been following this trying to find T-12 single pin 8ft led's to replace my current 75W daylight 8ft tubes but I am not seeing anything suitable.
I really want to convert buy up here its very hard to find any suppliers locally that don't want $30+ per tube.

Any suggestions where to find these in the US to have shipped up here?? I have tried calling to some of the suppliers guys have posted links to but have not got any concrete leads as most suggest replacing the complete fixture because they are unsure if they are compatible with fixture sold here but assuring them they are the same design does not help.

Any leads will be greatly appreciated

These are what I used
https://www.amazon.com/HyperSelect-Shat ... 2X1PSWNTNF

The clear cover works fine if you have a high ceiling, but anything under 12' used the frosted ones.

Look at the earlier link that I posted. All I had to do was remove the ballast and wire them up. They are double row v shaped. I looked all over and this was the best deal I could find and am vert happy with them
