Any "new and improved" spirolox tools?

Since Studebaker and Packard pistons don't usually come with spirolox, I seldom deal with these. Somehow, a 496" BBC snuck in and my machinist will have to install spirolox. Looking for whatever's best today, as he's already bitchin' about ruining his fingers.

Stretch them out a bit like a spring and use a small screwdriver and slide em right in

simple way to install them is to stretch'm all out first--then just roll'm in

-I take a small screwsdriver and modify the tip like this---to get in under the little end of the spirol lock to work that end out---but also use it to push the spirol locks in.

I've always been the wiz at installing spirolox, most are with some practice. I tried a customer supplied "fancy install tool" and it was a joke. Just do the technique as above.

I'm not sure that stretching them out like the above photo in the earlier post is good or bad.

I like to put the Spirolock on my finger and push the first lap out just far enough to get it started in the groove with my fingernail, then follow it around with a blunted scribe tool.

If this is new to you, practice on an old piston.

Once you get the knack it's really easy.
