valve grinder wanted, or parts for mine

Post by dryenko »

ISO a decent used bench top valve grinder, close to me [27017] so shipping isn't needed. Can pick up within a 100 mile radius.
Or the parts required to hold valves concentric in a repeatable way in my Van Norman model F no 3281 with a 1/4 HP Westinghouse electric motor. Does anyone make or have parts for these today?
The grinder works fine except the chuck doesn't repeat the same touch off position if a valve is taken out and then reinserted.
Any advice is appreciated.
Please PM me if have a good condition grinder for sale.

get a dial indicator and figure out how much runout you are getting. Even a very accurate grinder will not repeat the way a centerless will. If you can get it to at or under .001" it is ok. I wouldn't waste time with that old machine, try to find a Sioux or kwikway for cheap money. good luck
