Grassley refers Avenatti and Swetnick to Justice for a criminal probe

Post by 1989TransAm » Thu Oct 25, 2018 4:32 pm

Looks like Avenatti and Swetnick lied to Congess.

"Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa) on Thursday referred lawyer Michael Avenatti and Julie Swetnick — one of the women who accused now-Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh of misconduct during his confirmation proceedings — to the Department of Justice for a criminal probe, alleging that they made “materially false” statements to Grassley’s committee as it investigated the allegations.

Swetnick said in a September affidavit that Kavanaugh attended a 1982 house party during which she says she was gang raped — an accusation Kavanaugh vehemently denied and said was from the “Twilight Zone.” Grassley said he is asking the Justice Department to look into whether Swetnick and Avenatti potentially conspired to give materially false statements to Congress and obstruct a congressional investigation."

It might be best if the Kavanaugh gang just enjoys the fruits of their success with the nominee, unless they want to see a post Kavanaugh dip in their approval ratings.

Most of the country has moved on, but if you guys want to keep dissing 50% of the population over a 16 year old's uncorroborated sexual assault, have at it, I'm game.

Looks like the media is going to throw Avenatti under the bus. :D =D> This from NBC News a lefty organization.

"When Sen. Chuck Grassley referred attorney Michael Avenatti and his client Julie Swetnick to the Justice Department for criminal investigation Thursday, he cited Swetnick's interview with NBC News as evidence the two were trying to mislead the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In the NBC News interview that aired on Oct. 1, Swetnick back-tracked on or contradicted parts of her sworn statement where she alleged she witnessed then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh "cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could then be 'gang raped' in a side room or bedroom by a 'train' of boys."

NBC News also found other apparent inconsistencies in a second sworn statement from another woman whose statement Avenatti provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee in a bid to bolster Swetnick's claims."

#believewomen! Go crazy liberals!

Joking aside, the left took what should have been a respectable movement and just destroyed it for political gain that backfired. This woman really needs to be made an example of. You can't do this shit because you lost an election. This is one of the chics that our trolls were gleefully hoping would take Kavanaugh out only so they could claim President Trump lost something important.

"She further confessed to Committee investigators that (1) she 'just wanted to get attention'; (2) 'it was a tactic'; and (3) 'that was just a ploy,'" the committee's letter continued. "She told Committee investigators that she had called Congress multiple times during the Kavanaugh hearing process – including prior to the time Dr. Ford’s allegations surfaced – to oppose his nomination. Regarding the false sexual-assault allegation she made via her email to the Committee, she said: 'I was angry, and I sent it out.' When asked by Committee investigators whether she had ever met Judge Kavanaugh, she said: 'Oh Lord, no.'"

I still can't wrap my head around why they insist on overplaying their hand all the time. You'd think all those "college" graduates would learn something about actual life but I guess far-left indoctrination is the best they can hope for.

Nobody gives a crap, almost from day 1 about her, unless you haven't noticed, if she lied, make your case, prove it, hand out a sentience, and then try to catch up because we have moved on.

Just wondering here. If someone can go to prison for making false statements to a lending institution. What should the penalty be for lying to a congressional committee?

This is Avenatti's star witness. Bwahahahahahaha. Avenatti is an idiot but he does have his supports here on Speed Talk. :D

Lying to a lending institution usually requires it be a material fact to have significance, lying about your true hair color to a bank, will get maybe an eye roll.

"should", it depends, as all lies have different impacts, and their is also precedence, which is difficult to veer from, when deciding "should".

""Material" means that the subject matter of the statement or concealment related to a fact or circumstance which would be significant to the decision to be made as distinguished from an insignificant, trivial or unimportant detail.

Trump's tweet, which never mentions Munro-Leighton's name, suggests her deception had a far more significant impact on Kavanaugh's nomination than it did. Unlike allegations from Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick, her claims were not publicized during the nomination process. Bonnie Kristian

Moron. It was intended to sway Republicans such as Murkowski and Flake and also keep any dimoKKKRATS from voting yes. It worked to some degree.
