DOJ denies House conservatives' request to review Mueller’s directive

Post by 1989TransAm » Wed May 02, 2018 5:46 pm

Why is the DOJ hiding the Mueller mandate? IMHO it does not pass the smell test. Where is Sessions on all this?

"The Department of Justice has declined a request from members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus to view an unredacted memo detailing the scope of special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.
Assistant Attorney General Stephen Boyd told the lawmakers in a letter on Wednesday that turning over the memo would "threaten the integrity" of Mueller's ongoing investigation into possible collusion between President Trump's campaign and Russia, according to a copy of the correspondence obtained by The Hill.
“Although we are working to accommodate the requests of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in a number of oversight matters, we cannot provide the requested information pertaining to the Special Counsel’s ongoing investigation consistent with longstanding principles of investigatory independence," Boyd wrote in the letter.
A redacted version of the August memo signed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, which was made public in court filings, authorizes the Mueller investigation and directs Mueller to investigate whether Trump campaign officials “committed a crime or crimes by colluding with Russian government officials.”
Mueller's team is authorized to pursue any and all criminal charges uncovered by the investigation."

What you describe is a witch hunt. You need an underlying crime with evidence for a special council. There has been none and that is why the request for the documentation. We want things out in the open. It is called transparency.

So Trump/Russia was actually a ruse for

"we get to look at the Presidents entire life history until we find something and if we don't find anything at least we will have collected plenty of tax payer paid for opposition research for the Democrats".

Got it.

Obviously you are not for a transparent government. You are just fine with the corrupt Washington status quo. [-X

Oh really. He is the most open President I have seen. He is always talking to the press and tweeting how he feels about things. You are entitled to your opinion.

How do you know that? Rosenstein will not release the mandate. Judge Ellis has demanded to see it from Mueller. As to Manafort those so-called crimes happened in the 2005-2007 time frame. It was the DOJ who gave the documents to Mueller in order to try and squeeze him or have him compose what happened. What happened in 2005-2007 has nothing to do with Trump/Russia or even Trump obstruction.

Edit: Mueller broke into Manafort's home on July 26. On August 6 Rosenstein after the fact revised the mandate to cover the raid that occurred on July 26. Not good. [-X

Good. House republicans have no business seeing anything related to an open criminal investigation and by saying no the DOJ is protecting them from possible obstruction charges which they are getting very close to.
