Post by prairiehotrodder » Sat Apr 07, 2018 9:26 pm

15 young men killed in a bus crash about half an hour from where I live this past Friday. A hockey team on there way to a game.

I’m from Saskatchewan as well.

So terrible. All the best to the family and friends, and fast recovery for the injured.

Not sure exactly what happened, sounds like a big truck T-boned the bus.

Very sad deal. And all very young folks out to have fun.

It's time to get rid of busses and trucks just too dangerous. Trains, busses, airplanes all mass transit should be stopped too many end up dead, worse than guns.

I was going to make light of this and say the old racial joke!

"Was there an empty seat, what a shame!", but I won't!!

Sorry that it happened.

Tough break for the families, I’m sure the parents were worried their kids would get hurt playing hockey but nothing like this.

The amount of things that have to happen in just the right sequence to create this carnage is unimaginable.
My condolences.

I know you were being sarcastic with the get rid of statement.
Let me join in and say let's go to the source.
All team sports must end to avoid too many like minded people involved in the same accident.

Not making light of this. It is a sad day for our Canadian friends.

One sad thing is that other people have been killed at that intersection. I've been through it many times. Truck driving west into the sun at just the right time, bus going north, bush and yard on the corner that doesn't allow either to see each other. The truck had a high deck trailer and the bus hit it and got ripped in half. Everyone around here knows someone or was connected to someone that died. It was neat to see the churches yesterday praying for and comforting the families and survivors. I had to speak at my church and it was very difficult. Those boys were from all over the province and the hockey league is a big deal around here. The guys from Hockey ministries international have a big job ahead of them and need our prayers as well.

I can't imagine the pain and heartbreak these families and communities are feeling. The loss of any young life is tragic, so many at one time is unimaginable.

I can't help but wonder how many would still be alive if they had the option of wearing a seat belt. I have traveled by bus and have never felt comfortable not wearing a seat belt.

Lots of people stood a hockey stick beside their front doors today, and even more wore sports-team jerseys (didn't matter what) as signs of respect. What a sad situation.

It's known that the truck driver drove through a stop sign (and as previously noted, he would have been driving towards a setting sun at the time). He survived, because the bus struck the trailer. I can't begin to imagine how devastated that driver must be.
