Well, China flinched and the markets are responding quite well proving, once again, that the doom-and-gloom Trump trolls were wrong.

Go Trump! \:D/
No they haven't. They have been saying exactly ehat they said today for about 5 years and been giving the soecifics they gave today for at least 18 months. The purpose of repeating it today was to try to stababilize the markets.

China also began a WTO action against the US today which will likely open the door to a stronger tariff response.

Speaking of the markets, imagine how much money you would have made in the past couple months if you knew what Rumo was going to tweet? Seriously...strong words followed by back pedaling then more words...up/down/up/down to the markets.....anyone with any idea what's coming next would be getting pretty rich.... I'm sure we'll get a list of the names soon ;)

Let's take soy beans as that has been in the news lately. There is only so much soy beans on the world market. If China decides to buy from other sources than the US than the US producers will just sell to someone else.

Sounds like a very narrow viewpoint.

How are you so certain what China will decide to do?

Or more importantly it's forgetting the whole supply and demand thing. If China decides to use an alternative as they claim they will do then the world price for soybeans drops and US farmers are stuck eith a crop that cost more to grow than they can sell it for.

Seems like even the markets dont respond as drastically to trump anymore. They realize most of his words are just that...words, rarely actions.

The scary end result of that tightening spiral, DT will get more off the rails to continue to be in the spotlight, and eventually, he find another madman that will call his bluff, intentionally.

Why would they not buy the soy beans on the open market or make a deal with other countries for the soy beans. At the moment there are only so many soy beans for sale.

Oh no. That's terrible. That means that Trump was right again and the leftist socialists lose another round.
When will those clever fools ever learn the difference between blathering nonsense, i. e Pelosi, Hillary, and
practiced negotiation?

From the article that Sanford posted.

"China may still buy U.S. soybeans, despite the additional tariff, if the market needs supplies, added Zhang."

That just proves my point.

And the US may still buy steel despite the tariffs.

The US almost certainly will still but cars and equipment from around the world make with now cheaper Chinese steel....thats the problem with tariffs particularly tariffs on commodities, you prop up low value products at the expenses of high valve products, unless it's a commodity like soy beans that never become a high value product and China wins.

Other countries also have tariffs. Europe is a prime example.
