hina will impose additional tariffs of 25 percent on 106 U.S. goods including soybeans, autos, chemicals, some types of aircraft and corn products, among other agricultural goods, the finance ministry said on Wednesday.

The products targeted by the tariffs were worth $50 billion in 2017, according to a separate statement from the commerce ministry.

Extra tariffs will also be slapped on products such as whisky, cigars and tobacco, some types of beef, lubricants, and propane and other plastic products, the finance ministry said in its statement.

U.S. orange juice, certain sorghum products, cotton, some types of wheat, as well as trucks, some SUVs, certain electric vehicles, will also be subject to the new duties, the finance ministry said.

Our local farmers have been speaking out. There are not happy and a strong majority of them voted Trump.

Not fear. Facts.

Found something elsewhere on the internet relating to this.

The USA exports a fair number of motor vehicles to China ... in the form of BMW and Mercedes SUVs, which are built for worldwide sale in Spartanburg, SC and Birmingham, AL. The entire worldwide supply of BMW X3, X4, X5, X6 come from Spartanburg.

Apparently these are the leading automotive exports from the USA to China and it's a fairly significant number - it's in the billions of $ per year. The "detroit 3" export few vehicles to China but Mercedes and BMW export plenty.

Screwing BMW and Mercedes in turn screws all of their suppliers and that includes plenty of North American companies and all of the people that work for BMW and Mercedes directly and for all of their suppliers. I know where all of the sheet metal for those BMW vehicles comes from ... they're one of my customers, and the plant is not far from Spartanburg.

Interestingly, Audi won't be affected ... because their competing vehicles are either built in Europe or in Mexico.

So, someone in China in the market for an SUV with a German marque will be more inclined to buy an Audi, thus indirectly taking jobs away from Americans and handing them to Mexico.

This won't be the only situation like this.

Yup. There are plenty of other examples just like that one.

This is a very bad situation for the people in the USA. It will not improve the situation for them at all. They have a lot to lose and they are in process of having it lost for them by expressions of careless hubris allied with a profound bigoted ignorance.

It is recommend to be checking what the was posted in the Straights Times and other Asian newspapers recently. The gist of the comments, right from the heart of the Chinese establishment, was that the USA is not "the rest of the world". I doubt that this sentiment and others like it (which are issuing forth more and more commonly over recent times) were reported in the US mainstream media or, assuming they were, that very many in the US understand what is meant and what the significance is. And it is very significant indeed. Oh well.

President Trump is badly advised to try to take on China AND the rest of the World, but, it would appear, that is what he is about to do. On this Xinhua recently reported that "the world can either choose between China’s vision or Mr Trump’s 'self-centred America First policy which has led his country away from multiple multilateral pacts and infused anxiety into both allies and the broader world'." Further, it reports that the “Xi-style collaborative approach” is the ONLY way forward because “the interests of different countries have become so closely intertwined that mankind has no future but a shared one”. So, what does President Xi's "collaborative approach" entail? One only has to look at OBOR and the various agreements which have been erected to bring it about in order to understand.

Final point to ponder. President Xi and his team are right. A multi-polar world is upon us all. This will not be a century of uni-ploar American exceptionalism. When it comes to China, their view is that the "rest of the world" is not merely the USA, not by a long, long shot. Looking at a map of the world, one is inclined to agree.

Well, China flinched and the markets are responding quite well proving, once again, that the doom-and-gloom Trump trolls were wrong.

Go Trump! \:D/
