Actually, the United States is a Federal Republic with a Representative Democracy.

Its a very good thing we do not have a pure democracy. That would be little more than
mob rule with a head count. Initially, only people with skin in the game (property ownership
and could read), were allowed to vote. But that standard was lowered to include dumbass
folks to vote even if they did not understand what they were doing.

The ancient Greeks who invented pure Democracy soon regretted their action.
Fools and imbeciles soon flooded the ballot box negating the thoughtful, intelligent voter.

And so it is today in the coastal cities and inner cities. Cattle are rounded up and driven to
the voting booth without a clue.

i hope you dont vote if you dont know what the difference is between a democracy and a democratic republic. they are not the same! #-o
I know exactly what they are and that one is by definition a subset if the other....but don't trust me, or the definition I posted l, or the article posted, go look it up for yourself.

Then, if you still still don't believe you live in a democracy there is no reason in the world for you to waste your time voting.

Yes, it is also a federal republic so democratic federal republic is probably the most specific.

I don't think you'd say "Federal Republic with a Representative Democracy" because saying republic already means representative government so it's redundant, but not wrong I guess

A representative government may or may not be a democracy. At the founding of the US when the Senate was not elected, the US was not really a representative democracy or democratic republic. After the 17th amendment it is.

But a democratic representative goverment or representative democracy (another way to say the same think) and both democracies. They are not pure democracies, which is another sub type of democracy, but they are all generically democracies.

A Federal Government means a union of autonomous states, as compared to a single entity.

A direct Democracy is one in which citizens vote directly for the candidate. At the Federal level we do no such thing.

We do not vote for the President or Vice President; we vote for electors from each state who cast votes for those offices.

Only at the Congressional, State, and Local level do we vote directly for the candidate.

Why are totally unqualified voters allowed to vote and unqualified candidates allowed to run for office?
And yet there are those who question the right of citizens to own weapons which are guaranteed by our Constitution.

Shouldn't office seekers pass mental fitness tests and pass background checks. If background checks had been in
place, Obama would never have been permitted to run for office. Nor would Maxine Waters, Pelosi, Hillary, Boxer, Warren.

By the way, which religions vote to select its priests and rulers?

Donald Trump is still holding at 50%. Poor trolls...

"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-nine percent (49%) disapprove.

The latest figures include 34% who Strongly Approve of the way Trump is performing and 40% who Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -6."
