Details on a gun background check

Post by j-c-c » Mon Mar 26, 2018 12:44 pm

So the devil is always in the details.

90+% want a universal background check?

Not clear to me:
What EXACTLY is it?
What is the criteria for a rejection?
How is the criteria set and by whom?
Is it time dependent?
Is it "scored"?
Is it subject to review and/or due process?
is it open and public?
Why have these important details been neglected in the discussion?

In other words, are you saying that we don't know what THEY are going to try to use for gun control?

Much like what THEY did with ACA, (WE have to pass it so that we can read what's in it!), shit.....

Shame on me the 1st time, shame on you the 2nd time!!

Yes, surprised I'm the one asking the question, those deep into the 2nd Amendment better pay attention here.

This is how, IMO, driving became accepted as a privilege, and not a right, and that is another separate worthy discussion.

Here's the Canadian one ... https://www.vox.com/2014/10/24/7047547/ ... comparison
That was an interesting link, does not answer in detail many of the questions I initially asked, but a detail shared is Canada limits background checks it appears to the most recent 5 years, seeing an acceptable time limit I like to see,

Part of my inspiration for my questions is the way ICE deports the undocumented, and the common heard reason answer is they are criminals, and then we find out they were cited for jaywalking or something. I'm wondering with that logic, would multiple parking tickets or littering, a bounced check, or overdue library books get a gun background check rejected? Silly, but then nothing surprises me anymore.

https://www.thetrace.org/2015/07/backgr ... -shooting/ click on form 4473 this is the federal background check form. As I understand the issue they simply want information about people on a database that all states would give the information. Right now it is pretty hit and miss if things get reported. My girlfriend sells guns at Walmart she says domestic violence and or protection orders are the most common things she sees that come back when denying a gun purchase.

I'm not questioning JCC he's seen the same stuff I've seen all over the news and internet but...

I keep seeing stuff like,
90% want a background check
80% want bump stocks banned.
80% want an assault weapon ban.
80% want the age to buy any firearm raised to 21
ect ect ect.

Where are these numbers coming from? The same "pollsters" who said Hillary would win by a landslide, or the children/robots marching to have their rights taken away?

The same kids who no-longer take a civics course or US History as part of their senior year curriculum.

they never define exactly what it is they want, both because they are ignorant, and also because it leaves an open end to their wanting your things that they are scared of.

These little squirts would be terrified if they went to school when we did where every lifted truck had a gun rack in the window with at least one loaded rifle in it.

Oddly enough, nobody ever shot up the school.

That's the part no one wants to talk about. I got a used 12 gauge Remington 1100 when I was 16. My high school principal came out to my truck to look at it. Same when I got a 30-06. We pretty much all had guns in our trucks. Many days we'd leave our trucks in the parking lot after school and go squirrel hunting in the woods behind the school, or dove hunting in the field right across the highway from school.

School shootings did happen back then.

Our Constitution says the right to bear arms shall not be infringed.

Is a background check an infringement?

On what basis can it be considered otherwise?
