US economy gained a surprisingly strong 313,000 jobs in February

Post by 1989TransAm » Fri Mar 09, 2018 8:58 am

I copied this story from CNN for you lefties on this forum.

"The US economy gained a surprisingly strong 313,000 jobs in February.
That was much stronger than economists expected and the best showing since July 2016.
Unemployment stayed at 4.1%, the lowest in 17 years.
Wages grew 2.6% in February compared with a year earlier, according to Labor Department figures published Friday."

What's sad for the country is that if it were any other president, those numbers would be headline news.

Go Trump!

It was headline news. Heard about it right away this morning.

Excellent news indeed. Whats better is wages didnt go up to high to stir interest rate hike concerns. :D

Good numbers for sure.

I'm curious why you've changed your view on unemployment numbers. You said for years they weren't real?

I have stated this before. President Trump is keeping the "Obama" method so that the numbers are apples to apples. The labor participation rate is growing. The numbers of people off the labor rolls is shrinking. The experts expected the numbers to be 200-205K. MAGA

Thats good to hear you agree with the numbers. Your past posts I've read claimed they were fake. Glad that has changed.

From CNBC:

"Labor force participation increase is biggest since 2003 as many Americans finally get back to work"

"Posted on ‎3‎/‎9‎/‎2018‎ ‎12‎:‎02‎:‎28‎ ‎PM by SeekAndFind
The U.S. economy did more than give jobs to 313,000 in February — it brought nearly three times that amount off the sidelines, where more than 95 million Americans still sit.
Inside the glittering nonfarm payrolls report the Bureau of Labor Statistics released Friday were some even more inspiring numbers. Skilled labor positions surged with big increases in construction and manufacturing, which has seen its best three-month period since 1984.
On a bigger-picture level, there was even more.
The labor force surged by 806,000, the biggest move since September 2003, and now sits just below 162 million. That's due to 653,000 people no longer counted as being out of the labor force and a growth of 785,000 folks reporting to be at work, according to the government's household survey. The labor force participation rate rose to 63 percent while the employment-to-population ratio rose to 60.4 percent, both the highest since September.
It was all part of a jobs market that continues to defy expectations. Every time economists or officials at the Federal Reserve pronounce the U.S. at "full employment," a report seems to come out indicating that there's still plenty of room for growth.
"What companies have been trying to do over the six months is solving this Rubik's Cube, trying to figure out what we have to do to get those people off the bench to participate," said Bill Ravenscroft, senior vice president at Adecco Staffing. "If we continue this type of [payrolls] growth this is going to be the catalyst for a wage spike."
A jump in earnings was not a part of the February jobs report."

A guy I know told me yesterday that he had changed jobs from $8.00/Hr. to $11.00/Hr. as a shift maintenance tech at one of our three Walmart Super Centers. He was happy for the jump in salary. I think he might have been mounting tires before?

If WE want people to go back to work, then tell our Gov. to cut the DOLE, and they will! Cutting the DOLE, removing the illegals and locking down our borders will increase DOMESTIC worker participation, imho...

That or either they will do something illegal and if they do that put them away, hard time.

I still want floating hard numbers of what our actual able to work jobless amount to vs the documented working population floating numbers.

And wow $8 to $ 11, and how high has the cost of everything gone up since 1972 ? My dad was making a top industrial wage of $9. back then.
In 84 the same job was $16./hr. now I think its about $45. Just goes to show you how they want to keep people in a hole.

I figure he is really part-time and like I said, he told me he was OK with his pay... He is glad to be doing something to bring in a $Buck or 2!

And btw, he's pretty-much retired kinda like I am...
