Public perception of Walmart and Dicks Sporting Goods surges after gun sales decision.

Public perception of Walmart (WMT) and Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS) improved after both retailers imposed new restrictions on gun sales, in the aftermath of the Feb. 14 high-school shooting in Florida that left 17 dead.

A new survey of consumers by research firm YouGov BrandIndex shows that the “buzz score” for Walmart jumped 7 points after Walmart changed its gun policy on Feb. 27, from 13 to 20. The score for Dick’s surged from 2 to 18. YouGov computes scores by asking survey respondents whether they have a positive or negative impression of a brand. The worst possible score is -100 (totally negative) while the best is 100 (totally positive).

Both stores still sell guns. But each recently changed its policies, taking assault-style weapons off the shelves completely and requiring all buyers to be at least 21. Walmart is the nation’s biggest seller of firearms, while Dick’s is the biggest sporting-goods retailer.

Not surprisingly, impressions of the changes at both retailers varied by political persuasion. Democrats and Independents led the push behind Walmart’s rise in perception, while Republicans’ perception of the retail giant fell slightly. Democrats were also responsible for the boost for Dick’s, while Republicans and Independents stayed the same on the store.

Deja vu.... Again!
Seems Dicks made the same announcement after Sandy Hook in 2012. Must of been the attraction of added gun sales that enticed ARs back in the store during the previous administration. So much for principles!

Few Walmart stores have firearms even fewer have ARs.

Way to go guys. Get free advertising from the media, not hurt your bottom line and get that feel good thing like you are really making a difference!

This guy trolls so much that you never know if he's trying to make some sort of anti-Trump, anti-NRA, piss-someone-off-on-the-forum, or what kind of troll thread this is supposed to be.

Who the hell cares, it's their business. If you want an AR-15, simply drive a little further down the road. Whoopty-doo...

Each corporation acts differently. So they get judged accordingly.

Who's being stupid? Why don't you visit NRA's homepage to see what their stance is on new gun laws?

Their stance is to increase gun sales.the rump says he likes gun control to get his base rattled and they buy more guns. They did it all the time with oboma now the president needs to pay back the nra to make it seem he is all in for gun control to rile up people to buy guns. Or he is really all about gun control so I ask witch is it?

Wow! If its all about gun sales NRA backed the wrong candidate. I'm certain Hillary would of sold at least as many guns as Obama.
