Get all the immigrants and other foreigners that have not worked a day of their lives in the US, off of all forms of public assistance and social security / Medicaid/ medicare and we wouldn't have that debt.
More over give help to the American Citizens who Need it, not the oh ill just pop out another baby and get an extra grand a month.
Sorry a real sore point for me, I have a friend who is in the dire straights, heart problems, back problems, kidney etc. Worked on a farm his entire life and they keep turning him away. They even told him well your male, in your early 50's and in your health status probably won't make 60, there are people coming in the country who need help more then you. Fortunately he found a lawyer who is willing to help but still.

It is much worse than you thought. Total unfunded liability of the US Federal Government exceeds US$222-trillion.

It is un-repayable. So, there will be a default. Part of the default will be realised by reductions (by various means such as means and asset testing) then eventual cessation of social security pay-outs, medicare, medicaid and the other welfare hand-outs. Expect a wholesale looting of personal savings and income and assets along the way.

Last I saw it was only 95 trillion. It's a fluid number however and subject to change. Your 222 trillion number may very well be right.

No IMO because out of control debt is not capitalism...closer to socialism.

Ratu,

If you had cash, what would you put it in so that you don't lose it's so-called value due to inflation and stuff like that?

I ask because if I put it in a fruit jar and bury it, inflation will eat it up so that all I will have left is some old moldy paper.

Buy some pre 65 silver coins to bury. I think your book says you will need denarius to buy food some day

I think history shows that when paper money starts turning to toilet paper, precious metals soar in value. I've been wanting to invest in silver for years now. And something tradible in size like smaller coins as opposed to a 10 pound bar.

I have been buying old pre 65 silver for 20 years quarters and dimes mostly. 5 gallon buckets of silver are not easy to move around though and harder to hide . I have never sold it only bought , my financial advisor said everyone should hold some silver.
