US trade deficit in Trump’s first year soars to 9-year high of $566 billion

The U.S. trade deficit in December and for the full year both rose to the highest levels since 2008, complicating efforts by President Trump to fulfill his vow to reduce the gap.

The deficit in December rose 5.3% to $53.1 billion, the Commerce Department said Tuesday. Economists polled by MarketWatch had forecast a $52.2 billion gap.

Take a look at this article and make note of the things President Trump is currently doing to combat it (particularly what he's already done to boost exports.)

You can always find a negative slant if that's what you're looking for. And let Trump's policies take shape: manufacturing plants don't pop up like a dandelion and large and complex trade deals don't happen on a bar napkin over a cold one.

Companies are coming back so what used to be an import, will start to become domestic. Normal people know this.

With full employment, who is going to fill these jobs once all of this product becomes domestic?

Supply and demand. Wages will just have to rise if they want those workers.

So rising wages will magically create MORE workers?

Could make people change jobs. Could bring workers off the dole. Could make people leave part-time jobs for full-time. Could make people work two jobs. Could bring some folks out of retirement. All sorts of options.

This excuse, frankly, is something I'd expect Pelosi to say.

Idiot ^^^^^^^. There are people out there who have fallen off the data base. A lot of those will be coming back to work. By the way that number has been dropping lately.

I am trying to bring some common sense into the equation. There are any number of people who have dropped off the unemployment charts. The labor participation rate has dropped quite a bit already but it still has a ways to go and these people can fill the jobs as needed. President Trump can also increase foreign workers if need be.

What he is doing is bringing jobs back to America which you seem to have a problem with. It also appears that anything good for this country you are against. That is exactly the line of the dimoKKKRAT party. [-X

Edit: One more thing. There is an estimated $2 trillion dollars that will be repatriated back into the country. That money will be taxed at the new 21% rate.

This is right on, there are so many people not working that are not "unemployed" it would make your head spin.
