USMC why ?
Most people I know that served have some type of VA insurance and have never been quoted 6000 monthly something seems fishy here
Who the f are you to question my service ? Do you think every vet is on government healthcare? Did you ever serve ? If not shut your spit faucet.
I did not question your service I question your lie about $6000 per month for insurance

Pre-existing conditions prior to the ACA

People with pre-existing conditions typically cannot obtain any coverage, or at best can obtain limited coverage or more costly coverage for those conditions. This situation is expected to be corrected by the health reform bill being considered by the US Congress in early 2010. Currently, those with pre-existing conditions must pay the cost out-of-pocket, and some resort to medical tourism, obtaining treatment in other countries or US regions, to obtain more affordable health treatment. This is especially difficult for those impacted by cancer, heart condition and other serious illnesses where treatment costs can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars or higher within a few days or weeks. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, 21 percent of those who apply for health insurance on their own are turned down, charged a higher price or denied coverage for their pre-existing condition.[9] Among the conditions that be considered “pre-existing” by insurance companies are domestic violence, cancer, asthma, depression and occupations such as police officer and construction worker.

So Mitch how much is your premium monthly? Mine is around 1100.00 with a 5000.00 deductible. As High as it is I am covered precondition and all. The insurance companies would not even offer ins before the ACA unless you paid an exorbitant amount of money, if you had a preexisting condition. You are probably on medicade or have a subsidy or no ins at all, my ins premium and deductible is more money than you make a year.

No I started working 40-50 hours per week when I was about 13 years old so I did not need the military to keep me in line or teach me discipline. Between work an my parents I was able to make it on my own

As far as health insurance I do not have any because I fall right in the crack where I make enough not to qualify for oduma care but not enough to pay the premium as I am self employed an might be able to afford it this month but if things get slow I might not be able to afford it next month

Oh so now people join the military to learn discipline, or they will fall out of line! They join out of a sense of duty a way to pay back for the blessings offered by society . that said going to work is Nobel and I commend any one who goes the f to work every day because as you know it is not easy.

My wife and I retired are both on Medicaid and Supplemental. that we pay for.

As for my 1st real job. It was working at the Atlanta, MO Grain Elevator making 70 cents/hr. for (6) 10 hour days! Back in something like '63 or '64 and me at 15 years old or so.

It was only a summer job because I was still in HS.
