Social Security Benefits Increase 2% For 2018??

Post by Ken0069 » Mon Dec 04, 2017 1:00 pm

Got a letter today from the Social Security Administration informing me that I would receive a 2% benefit increase starting in January. Then the itemized list of deductions below that showed that out of the $30.68 per month COLA increase I'll get I will only receive $1.60 after I pay the increased premiums for Medicare insurance and the Part D premiums?? WTF?? And that DOES NOT include the Medicare Part B premium that costs me another $139.84 monthly!

They based the COLA increase on 2% inflation that we had this year. This brings my total out of pocket on Medicare, Medicare part B and Medicare part D to over $293 per month! ](*,) Meanwhile that 2% inflation number keeps on eating away at my checking account balance, which on average has dropped over $1,000 in the last 6 months! :-({|=

Yes, I need some cheese to go with the whine!

A guy posted his increased ins premium for 2018 and if I remember right it was going up 6000 for the year plus an increase in his deductible, I think it was for the family or at least I hope because his insurance all told for 2018 would be over $24,000.00... time to look for a second job if your forced to buy insurance.

Most people I know already had ins before Ocare and now several of them can no longer afford it.

Regardless of how many dollars you have in the bank inflation reduces your bank account, that's basic economy!

Maybe you should get an education like the rest of us?

yes assuming you let your money sit in a standard checking account and do nothing productive with it.... #-o

doesn't sound like Ken is in a position to do anything money wise so he's stuck "living on the dole"

If by gambling you mean stock market, yes thats an option.

If you mean casino...I've never been a fan. I'd rather lose money "investing" in racecars!

I have not got my Social Security letter yet. However I am sure it is the same as Ken's. For me though my other investments are increasing thanks to President Trump. =D>

It flatlined and maybe a decline early on. I just received my letter. Opening it up. Ok, I get a $10 a month raise. =D>
