"Sun stood still in midst of heaven" Typical manner of speech in the day and an observation. Mid heaven would be noon time to most of us, as that is the mid point.
Its not referring to where the location of the earth or sun is in the cosmos.

That would be my thought.
I have found it best to see what the scripture says instead of listening to what someone says it says. :D

You obviously do that.
You could do what intelligent people do and read what it says and compare it to historical fact or you can keep doing what you do and spew crap you heard from someone else!

You're getting all upset now?

So......is the earth flat then?

Back in the middle ages in the time of Gallileo, The church held all the "knowledge" because ........well they're the ones who've spent all the time on bible study.........when they say it's geocentric, then it's geocentric and anyone who disagrees gets burnt at the stake.

What does the bible say about the earth?

The church has said a lot of things.
Can you show the documented proof who said what and when or is this something you were told?

And as a result of all that time they spent on Bible study they found that it contradicted many of their major teachings e.g. trinity, hellfire, immortality of the soul etc etc so they did their best to stop ordinary people from reading it and consequently challenging their authority and control over people's lives.

Yes, there have been many things that have come from "the church" to use a blanket label, 2 modern day ones that come to mind that can be very misleading is the pre trib rapture and the alter call but good luck getting the masses that have been taught these things to study the other perspectives in relation to what the scripture actually says.

What does the bible say about the earth?
And which bible would that be? There are many bibles to choose from. Here is a short list.

King James Version (KJV)
New International Version (NIV)
New American Standard Bible (NASB)
New King James Version (NKJV)
English Standard Version (ESV)
New Living Translation (NLT)
Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
New Century Version (NCV)
What is The Voice translation of the Bible?
New English Bible (NEB)
American Standard Version (ASV)
Good News Bible (GNB) / Today’s English Version (TEV)
Amplified Bible (AMP)
Today’s New International Version (TNIV)
New English Translation (NET)
Lexham English Bible (LEB)?
Revised Standard Version (RSV)
Contemporary English Version (CEV)
God’s Word Translation (GW)
Common English Bible (CEB)
What is the Recovery Version of the Bible?
New International Readers Version (NIrV)
Easy-To-Read Version (ERV)
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
Bible in Basic English (BBE)
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
What is the Modern King James Version (MKJV)?
What is the Modern English Version (MEV)?
World English Bible (WEB)
Revised English Bible (REB)
Jerusalem Bible (JB)
New American Bible (NAB)
The Living Bible (TLB)
The Message (MSG)
Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
Wycliffe Bible
Tyndale Bible
Coverdale Bible
Matthew Bible
Great Bible
The Bishops' Bible
Douay-Rheims Version (DRV)
Geneva Bible

These are just those in English. When various translations are included the numbers increase significantly.

When we examine ancient and historical bibles, including unfinished and abandoned bibles, the list grows longer yet.

You can believe what the bible depicts or you can put your faith in astrology. Not much difference.

There are only 2!
2. If we trace the manuscripts back to their origins, there are only two sources for them - Antioch and Alexandria. Text types that represent a time period or location are traceable back to one of two families of manuscripts - the Majority text and the Minority text - the Majority text originating in Antioch, Syria and the Minority text originating in Alexandria, Egypt.

3. The Majority text (literally) includes approximately 99% of the 5,000+ extant manuscripts (meaning manuscripts that are in existence today). These manuscripts include the ones used by the King James Bible translators and they have a high level of agreement with each other. The Minority text (literally) includes the remaining less than 1% of extant manuscripts. These manuscripts include those used by all modern versions and they have a high level of disagreement between each other (For example, Sinaiticus and Vaticanus, the two principal Alexandrian manuscripts by far, disagree with each other in over 3,000 places in the four gospels alone - see chart below).

Back in the middle ages the general population couldn't read or write.
The church had to do verbal translation for everyone.
It was in Latin.
Old English is different from new English,
American English is different from English English.
Today's English is different from 50 years ago.
The KJ bible was translated to old English from latin (which I didn't learn at school)
The latin was translated from Greek which I've also got no idea how to read.
That came from Hebrew for the old bits.

But before then, it was word of mouth for 1000 or so years.

Word of mouth changes very quickly.
It's even got name.....chinese whispers.

Thats all incorrect!
I have a KJ from today and a KJ from 1950 as well as a Scofield reference bible, copy write 1945 and they say the same thing!
Although I am not a big fan of all of Scofields references but that is historically researchable as well.

It went from Greek to the other languages so It can easily be compared back to the original sources!
Study it for your self.

People always "say" it has been changed but what you will notice is they can't show you an example.
Here is a 13 minute video answering the question.

I think you're a specialist in the bible.

The trouble with being a specialist is that you learn more and more about less and less so that eventually you know everything about nothing.
Then you get made redundant.

So I study lots and lots of things and have done since I figured out it was a waste of time being a specialist.
