The negative and positive cost impact of Obamacare are a subject of much debate.

In 2008, the average employer-sponsored family plan cost a total of $12,680, with employees footing $3,354 of the bill, according to Kaiser data. By 2016, the cost of the average employer family plan was up to $18,142 for the year, with workers picking up $5,277 of the tab. That's a 43% increase in health care cost to employers, and a 57% increase in health care cost to workers, mostly under Obamacare.

It is very normal for health care cost to level off after a recession. It is also very normal for insurance companies to lower costs when faced with pending legislation, as is now the case. Obamacare seems to benefit from these natural cycles.

Overall, it cannot be said that Obamacare has reduced the cost of health care. It is pure conjecture to speculate on the cost of health care without Obamacare. Nor does anyone assess the impact of losing your own doctor or hospital or medical plan. What is the price of freedom of choice? Why should we allow politicians and bureaucrats to play God with our health care?

If there are risks to be taken, we should be the ones to take them.

Obamacare, like Obama was never intended to succeed. It was simply a ramp to single payer health care just like Obama was a ramp to socialism.

Rates are going....more slowly than they were before the law. There is lots to not like, but it's helped hold rate increases down.

90% or people are basically not affected at all by the law beyond it helping to control costs and helping keep emergency rooms open. 85% of the remaining 10% have health care for the 1st time and receive subsidies to shield them from the rate increases so its a big win for them (but maybe not tax payers) so its rwally about 3% that need to buy but don't get subsidies that are being hurt...unless they actually get hurt or sick and are glad they have insurance.

Those are the numbers....snd just because you chose to ignore them does not mean tbey aren't real.

Your numbers are bogus and completely misleading. People were forced to buy insurance they did not want or need. Many people are now stuck with insurance they will never use either due to type of coverage (maternity benefits for grandpa?) or obnoxiously high deductibles. Meanwhile real taxpayers picked up the tab so that Obamacare could "lower" health care costs. Pure bullshiit.

Remember what Supreme Court Justice Roberts said about Obamacare. "It's not actually health care, it's a tax on the American people."

You folks that like socialized medicine should look around the world to see where it works. It doesn't work anywhere in the world.

They are just the numbers.
What's bogus is the argument that people are stuck paying for coverage they don't need because personally probably won't have a specific covered event....that is the whole point of inurance. No, grandpa isn't going to get pregnant but nut is may very well get prostate cancer, a stroke, or heart attack and those are the condition young women are subsidizing for him in exchange for maternity care for themselves.....its called pooling risk and is how insurance works.

I agree young people and men are paying more now than the risk numbers say they should and I'm not a fan of this, but if we go by straight risk older people could never afford insurance so I don't know what the right answer is, but the 3x increase currently allowed for old is probably not enough.....i think a 5x or 7x increase is probably a bettet compromise.

He said no such thing. He said the tax penalty for not buying insuance (the personal mandate) is a tax....big difference.

Well it's not a tax on the Russians or Iranians, it's a tax on Americans.
As such, it still represents a transfer of wealth from those who can afford to pay for their own health care to those who mooch off the taxpayer. This whole outhouse is unethical and immoral...like stealing at gun point.
