That Time I Spent a Week with Rex Tillerson
December 13th, 2016

This is a post from Emily Roden, the smarter and more attractive Roden, about her brief few days with Rex Tillerson, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State…

http://rodenfordenton.com/2016/12/that- ... tillerson/
Nine years ago, I showed up to the Denton County Courthouse for jury duty and got myself picked for the job. A young girl had accused her mom’s boyfriend of sexual assault and the case was being brought to trial. If you’ve ever served on a jury trial before, you understand the almost immediate, yet very temporary bond that ties 12 strangers together who are randomly chosen from each of their private lives in order to fulfill a very solemn public purpose.

One of our first tasks was to choose our jury foreman. Perhaps it was his business suit, his impressive stature, or his charisma, but almost everyone in that jury room suggested that this middle-aged man with greying hair was likely the most fit for the task.

“Thanks, but I decline. I’m not interested in the spot light,” he told us. I didn’t think anything of it.

I had just bought my first BlackBerry and used my breaks to catch up on all the emails I was missing from my week at the courthouse. I recall leaving the jury room on a break with this man and remarking how busy I was and how much work I had to do. He smiled as he sat and read the paper.

From the first day of jury selection, we all noticed another suited man always present in the courtroom. His presence was intriguing due to the ear piece in his ear. While grabbing lunch at Denton County Independent Hamburger on the square the 2nd day of the trial, we noticed this mysterious man dining with our fellow juror who declined the foreman spot. The intrigue grew and it was the talk of the jury – who were these men?

Finally, during a break in the jury room, one juror had the nerve to ask; “Who are you? And what do you do?”

Our fellow jury member was reading the paper again and pointed out an article with Exxon in the headlines.

“I work for them,” he said humbly. “There are a lot of people in this world who hate me for what I do, so they give me and my family guys like that to protect me.”

I immediately felt embarrassed for complaining to him the other day about how much work I had to do. It didn’t take long before a few internet searches revealed that I was serving on this jury with the CEO of Exxon Mobile, Rex Tillerson.

The trial concluded and it was time for the jury to deliberate. The story was heartbreaking and the facts of the case were clear enough to make the majority of the jury convinced of the guilt of this sexual offender of a little girl. But the defense did a good enough job to create a couple of hold-outs. As our deliberations came to a close, it appeared we might have a hung jury.

That’s when Mr. Tillerson began to speak. Humbly, delicately, and without an ounce of condescension toward those who disagreed, he began walking us all through the details of the case. I even recall being moved by his thorough explanation about the nature of doubt and the standards set forth by our justice system. With great patience, this man who strikes multi-billion dollar deals with foreign heads of state brought our scrappy jury together to bring a sexual predator to justice and to deliver justice for a scared and deeply wounded little girl.

A local nonprofit was instrumental in fostering that young girl through this process, providing her counseling and legal help. I was so struck by their mission that I toured their facility the week following the case in order to learn how I could donate and volunteer to their cause.

On a whim, I decided to reach out to Mr. Tillerson to encourage him to do the same. I found an email for him online and sent him a note, touting the role this agency played in our trial and urging him to consider supporting the great work that they do. To my surprise, I received an email back thanking me for my note, my jury service, and ensuring me that he would contact the agency. I later received a call from the director of that nonprofit to let me know that Mr. Tillerson followed-through and gave a generous donation.

I didn’t vote for Trump. This is not an endorsement of Mr. Tillerson for Secretary of State. I’m sure that the coming days and weeks will be filled with speculation and political discussion over this clearly controversial pick for Secretary of State. I certainly appreciate those concerns and the process that ensures significant scrutiny for this important position.

But during a news show tonight, I heard the term “corrupt” applied to this man who I spent five days with back in 2007.

All I know is that this man holds one of the most powerful positions in the world and clearly has the means and ability to side step his jury responsibilities, served as a normal citizen without complaint or pretense. I know that a scared little girl who was finally convinced to come public with her account of abuse was inches away from a decision that would have sided with her abuser, yet this man put his negotiation skills to a very noble use and justice was served. All I know is that this man and his myriad of aides could have ignored an unsolicited email from a girl in her 20s suggesting that he donate to a local cause, but he took the time to respond and opened up his pocket book.

My five days with Rex Tillerson is all I know about this man and his character. And in light of the recent news, I thought this a relevant story to tell.

Bob said that it was funny that the "ticket" wasn't in the file???

Anyway, the dude didn't get off!!

Bob laughed and sais that was the last time he was called up...

Oh how I miss Bob and my good buddy Harry too...

More What? Oh, Yeah… More WINNING ! – Lockheed Martin CEO Pledges To “Aggressively” Save Taxpayer Money…
Posted on December 23, 2016 by sundance
Media and the professional left have been jaw-agape, pearl-clutching amid their discussion of the appropriateness for Donald Trump to directly confront corporate CEO’s about their business models.

Initially their angst was simply because Donald Trump had the audacity to begin staking a pro-worker, “America First” jobs position with Carrier Inc. The workers won.

President Trump then shifted slightly and spoke toward government contractors such as Boeing (Air Force One Contract) and Lockheed Martin… challenging their costs:

President-elect Trump took stewardship to an entire new level when tasking two competitors, Boeing and Lockheed Martin, for comparative bids and lower costs. The approach is brilliant.

According to their own report, the F-35 program is Lockheed Martin’s largest program, generating 59% of Aeronautics’ net sales in 2015. (link) Lockheed receives 78% of their $46.1 billion in net sales from the U.S. Government.

[58% from the Department of Defense {DoD}, 21% from international customers (foreign military sales {FMS} contracted through the U.S. Government)].

There are TENS OF BILLIONS at stake; and remember, it would be a violation of business and contract law for Boeing and Lockheed to discuss the cost issue jointly.

So when your biggest customer asks you, publicly, in front of those who ultimately pay the cost, to please cut your costs – and simultaneously asks your chief rival for a comparative bid on an alternate option, well, as a CEO, what do you do?

You make a “personal commitment” to America’s First deal maker, that’s what:

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/20 ... yer-money/

(Reuters) – Lockheed Martin Corp said its Chief Executive Marillyn Hewson gave U.S. President-elect Donald Trump a personal commitment to bring down the price of its F-35 fighter jet, after he heaped pressure on the aerospace company over the cost.

Lockheed’s shares fell on Friday after Trump’s message on Twitter, and after he earlier tweeted that he had asked rival Boeing Co to “price-out” an older aircraft as an alternative.

Hewson said in a statement tweeted by Lockheed that the company would “aggressively” drive down the cost of the F-35, which brought in about 20 percent of Lockheed’s sales last year.

It's Not Over: Jill Stein Now Asking Loretta Lynch To Investigate Electoral College

The former Green Party candidate just won’t let things go.

After attempting to initiate a recount in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan, Stein now wants Attorney General Loretta Lynch to investigate the “integrity” of the United States electoral system due to concerns from the recount effort.

Stein’s attorney addressed a letter to the Justice Department expressing concerns over "susceptibility to malicious interference and poor performance" of the voting machines used in the three states won by Republican Donald Trump.

An excerpt from the letter goes on to say: "The attempted recount process has uncovered that voting machines relied on in these states and across the country are prone to human and machine error, especially in under-resourced black and brown communities, and vulnerable to tampering and hacking. The recount also found that the states' efforts to protect their systems may be insufficient, particularly in low-income communities and communities of color. Each of these grave concerns warrants federal intervention."

Stein argues that any voting machine connected to the internet is cause for concern. She is calling for the implementation of paper ballots for subsequent elections.

Despite Stein successfully raising money and initiating a recount in Wisconsin, the recount resulted in more votes for Donald Trump. U.S. officials have said there is absolutely no indication voting machines were tampered with, but that hasn't stopped Stein from crying foul.

Many believe Stein’s calls for recounts and investigations into the 2016 election may have hidden motives. The Green Party candidate raised more money for the recount than her entire campaign.

I think Loretta Lynch has bigger things on her mind right now like what she is going to do next. She only has like 25 days left with a week or so of that Holiday time off. I seriously doubt anything is going to happen.

I think that ALL of them need to stop pardoning convicted/in-prisoned felons, end of conversation.

SOB's broke the LAW and got caught so what am I missing?

Trump Announces Two More Companies Join “America First” Job’s Campaign – 8,000 New Jobs…
Posted on December 29, 2016 by sundance
During a statement to the press on Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump announced two more companies who have committed to repatriation of jobs for U.S. workers.

From his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Mr. Trump said phone carrier Sprint will bring 5,000 jobs back from overseas. “They have taken them from other countries, they are bringing them back to the United States”, Trump said.

Sprint confirmed the announcement on its website:

Today, Sprint (NYSE: S) announced a commitment to create or bring back to America 5,000 jobs. The company anticipates these jobs will support a variety of functions across the organization including its Customer Care and Sales teams.

Sprint will begin discussions immediately with its business partners, states and cities to determine the right locations in the U.S. to create these jobs. The company expects to fulfill this commitment by the end of its fiscal year 2017 and will provide additional details when they are available.

“We are excited to work with President-Elect Trump and his Administration to do our part to drive economic growth and create jobs in the U.S.,” said Sprint CEO Marcelo Claure. “We believe it is critical for business and government to partner together to create more job opportunities in the U.S. and ensure prosperity for all Americans.” (link)

“Customer Care” is Sprint’s corporate code-speak for ‘that person you talk to when you call customer support’. [ie. India and…“and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning; and eventually you will say “Mr. Trump, we can’t take all of this winning”, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.

President-elect Trump also said another company, OneWeb, will hire an additional 3,000 U.S. workers which he called “very exciting.” OneWeb is a satellite network aimed at providing affordable internet access.

Discussing the deal Trump said it “was done through” SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, a Japanese billionaire. The pair met in New York earlier this month, and announced together that SoftBank — which is Sprint’s largest shareholder and has invested in OneWeb — would invest $50 billion in the U.S. and planned to create 50,000 jobs.
