No ‘Green Wave’ This Election As Voters Reject Climate Change Ballot Measures
11/07/2018
Voters in Arizona, Colorado and Washington rejected global warming-related ballot measures.
Nevada voters approved a campaign to raise their green energy mandate, which was backed by a billionaire Democrat.
There was no “green wave” this election, and environmentalists are already blaming the oil industry.

Not only did a Democratic “blue wave” fail to materialize on Tuesday night, the “green wave” of major global warming and energy-related ballot measures largely failed to get voter approval as well.

Voters in Arizona, Colorado and Washington rejected measures aimed at fighting global warming, despite two of those states being in Democratic hands.

The “Green New Deal” in Washington state went down in flames, with voters overwhelmingly rejecting a state ballot measure to tax carbon dioxide emissions, despite its support from Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee.

Washingtonians voted against the carbon tax initiative 56 percent to 43 percent, according to state election officials.

“The voters have spoken,” Tom Pyle, president of the free market American Energy Alliance, said in an emailed statement.

“It’s time to listen to them and focus on policies that expand the availability, affordability, and reliability of energy, rather than on policies that makes energy more scarce, more expensive, and less reliable,” said Pyle, a former Trump transition team leader opposed to carbon taxes.

Environmentalists argue the oil industry’s $30 million cash influx into the ballot measure campaign tipped the scales, compared to the more than $15 million spent by carbon tax supporters.

“Democrats did not quite get the blue wave they wanted, but it was even worse for environmentalists,” The New Republic’s Emily Atkin wrote on Wednesday, before blaming, in part, spending by energy producers. “There was no green wave whatsoever.”

However, Washington voters rejected a similar carbon tax measure in 2016, and Inslee was forced to admit defeat earlier this year trying to pass a carbon tax through the state legislature.

In Arizona, voters rejected liberal billionaire Tom Steyer’s campaign to increase Arizona’s green energy mandate from 15 percent by 2025 to 50 percent by 2030. Steyer’s campaign group, NextGen Climate Action, spent about $23 million backing the ballot measure.

Utility groups, including the owner of the state’s largest utility, spent nearly $31 million opposing Steyer’s effort. Nearly 70 percent of voters rejected the ballot measure, with only about 30 percent supporting it.

OH NO!!!! NOT A MISTAKE IN THE WARMING PREDICTION SHIT!!!! SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!

Climate Scientists Discover Error in Major Ocean-Warming Study
By Jack Crowe
November 14, 2018 1:17 PM
Two researchers have been forced to issue a major correction to a recent study indicating oceans have been warming at a significantly higher rate than previously thought due to climate change.

The paper, published October 31 in the scientific journal Nature, suggested ocean temperatures have risen roughly 60 percent higher than estimated by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). But, after errors in the authors’ methodology were identified, they realized their findings were roughly in line with those of the IPCC, after all.

The researchers’ alarming findings were uncritically reported by numerous mainstream-media outlets but Nic Lewis, a mathematician and popular critic of the consensus on man-made climate change, quickly identified errors.

“The findings of the . . . paper were peer reviewed and published in the world’s premier scientific journal and were given wide coverage in the English-speaking media,” Lewis wrote in a critique of the paper. “Despite this, a quick review of the first page of the paper was sufficient to raise doubts as to the accuracy of its results.”

Ralph Keeling, a climate scientist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography who co-authored the paper, said he and his partner, Laure Resplandy of Princeton, quickly realized the implications of their mistake once Lewis pointed it out.

“When we were confronted with his insight it became immediately clear there was an issue there,” he said. “We’re grateful to have it be pointed out quickly so that we could correct it quickly.”

After correcting their mistake, Keeling said their research indicates oceans are warming only slightly faster than previously thought, not dramatically faster as they initially reported. Keeling said the miscalculation was made when they were calculating their margin of error, which had a larger range (10 to 70 percent) than they initially believed.

“Our error margins are too big now to really weigh in on the precise amount of warming that’s going on in the ocean,” Keeling said. “We really muffed the error margins.”

The IPCC released a report last month calling on governments to take drastic action to combat climate change. According to the report, global carbon emissions must be cut by 20 percent by 2030 and completely eliminated by 2075 in order to prevent temperatures from rising two degrees above pre-industrial levels, at which point coastal areas would be completely flooded and hundreds of millions of people would be in danger of starvation.

The bandwagon fallacy works on the basis that something is correct, good, true, right or whatever the heck you want it to be just because most people think it is as well. Named after the horse drawn cart that politicians used to travel around on shouting their dubious election promises and drawing attention to themselves so that people would give them their support and vote for them. If you were dumb enough to be one of them you could literally jump on the bandwagon and enjoy being taken for a ride!

Yup, pretty crazy huh? This is what I was pointing out in the "trump thinks climate change is a hoax" thread

Absolutely astonishing that the IPCC has the gall to admit they were completely wrong about the prediction...yet want us to believe this new prediction? ...be wrong is being wrong.

Even If they were wrong in the other direction..and it wasn't warming at all..it's still dead nuts WRONG! They don't know wtf they are talking about , so it's just a double down theory now

They actually say "radical" changes need to be made starting right away...carbon tax should be $5000.00 per ton and increase to $27,000.00 per ton!

We know minor carbon taxes of between $10 and $50 per ton have been tried and were either rejected because of the economic hit or are just outright despised.

They say if we don't act now and make radical changes, we are doomed

Uh oh...more "MISTAKES" found in another recent study published in the journal NATURE

The Washington post just reported on a huge blunder by the journal Nature.. who reported initially that oceans were warming much faster than previously thought.

Only two weeks after the study was released, it was debunked as being false data....found out by its first challenger! Damm those deniers, always getting in the way of a good story

They had to make a retraction of the study and submitted corrections.

The news released started out like this...."unfortunately, we made mistakes here"

When it should have started out like this "unfortunately we got caught bs'ing"

Global Warming..................................... IIRC Some Russian scientists have been predicting another ice age is coming for years!!

Washington, D.C. Hit with First Measurable November Snowfall in 22 Years
In what is being described as a “messy mix” of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, winter appears to have come early to Washington, D.C., causing commute delays and school cancelations across the nation’s capital.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect and will be in place until at least Thursday evening as one to two inches are expected to fall today. The November snowfall average is 0.5 inches. The November snowfall record in the city is 11.5 inches, while averaging 14.5 inches of snow annually. The snowy weather will then head north and west of the city, according to WTOP. According to reports, Thursday’s weather is the first measurable snowfall in November since 1996.

“A lot of people didn’t think the snow would materialize this early in the year. It’s a little bit of a shock value,” Virginia Department of Transportation official Ellen Kamilakis said. “We ask people to slow down, to add in more time to their commutes, to not underestimate things. Don’t drive like it’s a fall day; drive like this is a winter day.”

Yeah, those a-hole scientists always admitting when they mess up, and correcting it. It’s much better to take an emotional non fact based stance despite an ever growing mountain of evidence to the contrary.

Ya no kidding... I wonder if they would have ever found out themselves if they had F'd up? Or would that report have gone on for years and years ?

I'll give them credit for admitting right off the bat they f'd it up.

A big thumbs up too the scientific community on this one...admitting it was a bogus hotshyt study they tried to pass of as legit!

All you’re doing is admitting that you have no idea how science works. Tell me, what profession were those people that wrote the journal article pointing out the flaws in the first one?

Ok, let me get this straight.

I just relayed a report that turned out to be hog wash, and admitted as much by scientists who did the study..

The scientific study was done by the Scripps institution of oceanography

Which a whole load of lefties rely on for data and advice...hence the publication of its report in the journal Nature

I'm not disputing anything they say, or disputing the data, or being the deplorable skeptic I am...

Just posting the very embarrassing backtracking of a report they admitted was totally flawed

So, in a nutshell

1They admitted the report was flawed
2I'm not admitting i know more about science than they do
3Your a jack azz
4The study was totally flawed
