RELAY, washing system

Post by Caprimaniac »

Hello there.

Anyone with insight and knowledge how to find replacement for obsolete original equipment relays?

This is a late 70's screen/ headlight washing system for a Ford/ Mercury Capri.

12V system, yes....

6 poles: 30, 31, 56 S and P....

Here it is: https://www.motomobil.com/3237,60720990-1.html

Regards
Rune

Hi Rune. Email Norm Murdock at blitz@teamblitz.com. He will more than likely have what you need. Pete

I am curious. What makes that relay special?
Looks like every other one from the bottom.

Agree.

Can't you just open it up and fix it?
They're pretty simple.
The worst that can happen is the coil wire can break or corrode.
Normally it's just the contacts that burn, they just need cleaning.

standard relay, only thing needs to be determined is the two power out poles are opposite in function ,on a normal relay one will have continuity with pole 30 when not triggered and will break circuit when triggered, the other power out terminal is opposite. the other style relay gives continuity with terminal 30 when triggered both readily available.

ok here goes you can use a common bosch style relay here is correlation of your relay to standard relay, terminal P = terminal 30 ,31=86,S=85,56 =87a,30=87. The only thing we need to know is whether or not terminal 56 and 30 on your relay have continuity or not. Normally they do not and 56 will have continuity with the P terminal on your p your relay when relay is not triggered , 30 on your relay would have it with p when triggered. If this is the case it is just a standard bosh relay available everywhere used as fuel pump relays, headlights just about every thing. The other style has the 2 outputs connected and have continuity with your p terminal only when triggered.
