8" Torque Converter actual size

Post by dniccoli » Sun Nov 25, 2018 11:37 am

Hey guy's, just received a brand new 8" converter from PTC to replace an old 10". I was expecting to open the box and find a smaller converter but this new 8" is exactly 10" across! It has PTC 8 stamped on it but dimensions are the same as my 10" and probably weighs the same, does that sound right or am I missing something? I tried emailing PTC with the size question but have not received a response as of yet, plan to call as soon as I can. Thanks for any insight you all can share.

Converter size isn't determined by the outside but by the turbine size. Not uncommon to see a converter listed as one size but measures another...it's inside that counts, and if it was properly configured to your combo.

Even if it weight the same or more, it's possible the weight is now more central and it has less inertia. Also is there a balloon plate in either?
