Rebuilding a Powerglide?

Post by Kingbee » Tue Mar 13, 2018 6:16 pm

Is a powerglide pretty straight forward when it comes to rebuilding one? I've done many torqueflites but never a glide. Thanks!

Depends on the application.
A Powerglide is about as simple automatic as there is. If building one for racing and to withstand some power you have to know what parts and procedures it takes to make 'em live.

Not bad at all . I'd suggest getting Carl Munroe' s Powerglide Transmission Handbook from HP books. Full of good information on mods for racing . I had only done 1 th400 before rebuilding the glide . Dan

Ditto,
that's the only type transmission I build and that book has been my only guide.

I didn't know that book existed. I have the torqueflite book from Carl Munro and it's very helpful! Thanks!

That, and if you're used to T350s or 700R4s you'll be amazed at how much BIGGER all the bits of a Powerglide are...
