Hello everyone,
need your help one more time
My friend has a '79 pontiac firebird, and he wants to take it to the track..
Ok the info on the car is

400cid pontiac engine / 400 hps approx
his cam: 214 / 224
vehicle weight arond and very close to 3500lbs
torque converter 3200 stall
with a rear end of 3.73 posi / 8.5 10 bolt
he wants to try slicks 26 x 10 /r 15

he is quite concerned if his rear end will ressist at the track....
do you guys have any advise on this?
or does he has to stop worring???? :D

His rear end should be ok, if it was assembled and set up right.

I do question your weight numbers though. That car is pretty heavy unless it has been on a diet.

The cam duraton looks pretty good for a driving street performance Pontic.

Rear end

Daniel. I ran a 8.5 10 bolt in my 76 camaro to an et of low 10.90s@ 124mph. I also ran a 10 bolt to 11.36 with a stock posi. Both with stock 28 spline axles. No transbrake. The car weighed 3350lbs. Don't underestimate the ten bolt. It's stronger than you think. Good Luck, Dan.
