Sorry to hear you broke your 22W a few months ago. Was it an italian gearset or the other one? Italian gears would be marked Antonio Masiero or a pyramid-shaped 'A' over 'M' logo.
The Muncie was originally designed around the 2.20 1st and thats the strongest in a factory situation. Our case/midplate/Masiero gearset is definitely stronger than a T10 or ST10.
We did develop a stronger platform for dragracing called the M23; but I don't want to make a sales pitch as the Newb. Im here to learn more about high end applications to better serve my customers and to provide any help we can as a company for guys who use manual gearboxes.
To the OP: If its one of my transmissions and you still have it, contact me and lets make it right; unless you're pushing 800hp with a prostock suspension, we should be able to make you happy.
M23 has the wider 2nd and 3rd gears, and the stronger 1st gear (less helix than standard). Id say you're looking at 15-20% more strength at least.
What kind of clutch do you have? An adjustable clutch like those from ACT or Tim Hyatt will help a lot too.
If you want to send your unit in and have the M23 set installed, contact me directly and we'll work out the details.
