A thanks for the moderator of speedtalk

Post by Belgian1979 »

I've been reading several threads where people seem to go into debate but things kinda get personal. I think we can all do better than that.

FWIW I wanted to say thanks to the moderator for just closing down things and pointing out this is not the way to go instead of just throwing people out of the forum like you see on other forums. Absolutely correct way to handle this !!

So guys, let's not make things difficult for the mods and operators of this forum...

I understand no-one likes to play cop on forums (I think) but a little earlier intervention or a subtle warning in some topics that get long winded, would prevent users getting to dislike each other and probably stop posting all together. Meaningless discussions can only drive forum-users away who usually don't care for drama.

Yes to the above 2 comments. If your blood pressure and heart rate get to high, and you know you are getting mad, be a REAL man and just say no to the next reply. :D Mark H.

I agree... I am mostly a lurker that loves to learn. I have received so much great info from this board but it seems like sometimes it starts getting a little like YellowBullet.
Much kudos to the moderator.

I owe everyone an apology for getting wrapped up in that mess. I've been on good behavior and staying away from the guys that set traps and pic fights but a couple of them tweaked my last nerve.

Either way, bad on me!

Thanks everybody for taking some of my, "off-the-wall", comments with a great big grain of salt!

Isn't the purpose of a moderator to moderate so that there is never a need to shut it down or at least that is the process I am familiar with, if you address those that are out of line then the rest of the members still get to benefit from the thread?
Please Note!
THE ABOVE POST IN NO WAY REFLECTS THE VIEWS OF SPEED TALK OR IT'S MEMBERS AND SHOULD BE VIEWED AS ENTERTAINMENT ONLY...Thanks, The Management!

Indeed. Nip it in the bud before threads start getting out of hand and give the usual instigators a private warning to keep it civil. It appears that Don may be paying a little more attention now.

Not necessarily. All it takes is to report a post or thread and Don is usually on top of it. If a topic starts getting out of hand and a member or 2 are getting personal, hit the report button. Instead of waiting on Don to do something and the thread reaching 12 pages of arguments, you can report it on page 2 and prevent it from ever happening.

You talking about, "Moderators", try over on the H.A.M.B. and then go over to Yellowbullet.

He, He!!

And Speedtalk is about the most technical car site out there, imho..
