I was trying to post an image of Audi's new 4.0Liter diesel electric turbocharger that spins to 70,000 rpms in less than a half a second to eliminate turbo lag in lower rpm s on engines.
I think this may be the future of even straight turbocharging as inter-cooling does not seem to be a problem.

Aside: Back in the 1950s, my Father used an electric supercharger on his Rambler and took it out to Willow Run to determine its top speed on the old airstrip.
