I thought that's what bandsaws and welders were for, Jack! Sorry.. couldn't resist.

You have a mountain of cylinder head corpses you have cut into pieces with the band saw to see what the inside of the waterjackets and port walls look like. AND you can identify them by their shape with your eyes closed!

After loosing flow after every attempt to improve it you swear off ever doing porting ever again...and then can't wait to get up the next day to try it again.

If your hand writing took a dump because your hands are numb from grinding.

If you blow your nose and enough iron comes out to cast an intake manifold.

If you reach into your pants pocket for your keys and get a sliver.

Went through that on my first set of heads so I built a lighted port box that connects to the head and hooks to a shop vac so their is no loose metal to deal with, it's harder to move the head around but I don't do it for a living.

You have ringing in both ears!

You keep saying WHAT during conversations with others!

You can't pass thru the TSA detection lines when trying to board a plane!

You shop clothes tend to sparkle in the light!

Your neck is so stiff it will hardly move quickly up or down or left to right without crackling or popping!

You just keep grinding and pounding during se* after climaxing !! =D>

EVERYTHING looks to need porting*. (I'm no pro, but speaking of shop vacs, when I went through my '6.25 HP' Sears, I picked up almost 20% flow and the sound level went down a ton. The big gain was filing the square-edged 0.020" thick impeller vanes into crude airfoils.)

During an MRI on your hand they stop the procedure and ask if your hand is getting hot ,and you tell them "nah , not really" ,,they finish the MRI and tell you you have Christmas lights in your hand , the ferrous bits get hot and the alloy bits don't.
My tinnitus is the same frequency as my die grinder.

Cheers.

If you are ocd, adhd, and a perfectionist.....
The Air Force Thunderbirds are practicing overhead, I need to work on being a perfectionist. Those pilots are just amazing!

You can't keep a snout bearing in your grinder - just shat another one.

Grinder gives a little hiccup, I think 'ah shit, only got about 2 hrs grinding left in this head' & dose the crap out of the bearing with air tool oil, spin it hard & shrug - what's the worst that can happen?
Bearing locks up 10 min later, dang.
No spares left either.
& I've robbed all the right size bearings out of my dead grinder stash.
Have to wait till monday now & I was just in the groove & looking to finish up.

I had a radiologist darn near deny me an MRI once he read my form... I convinced him I'd be fine because I mostly machined aluminum.
