I missed the compression being 12 to 1. and only 7500 rpm, I was thinking 8000. doing the math, the absolute most power you could make at 7500 would be 2.39/inch. that's 1.68 ft/lbs per inch at 7500. 1.68 ft/lbs per inch is the highest NA torque per inch that I have ever seen. and with 12 to 1 you won't see that much. SO that would be 959HP max for a 400" and with the compression less and the lift rule and no dry sump or vacuum, it should be way less..... Kaase
With the parameters given in the rules for that REC contest, I figured 1.55 lb/ft and 2.1 HP per cubic inch would be required; maybe a little more.

I will probably do the Engine Masters deal. I looked at the Race Engine contest rules and it looks like it would be nearly impossible for a FE based entry to be competitive on my budget. I don't mind "not winning" but need to be at least in the hunt for it to look like an honest effort. The amount of intake and cylinder head work I would need to do (or have done) makes it financially irresponsible.

I would suspect that there is not an amount of potential contestants to fill the two classes so, a choice is not required to be made yet...
