You can't bring dead lead acid batteries back to life.Not when they're properly dead, the cases swell up and the plates buckle.

NiCad and other batteries though, you can revive them several times, been doing it for years.

I am about to do this with an old Mercedes battery. There are plenty of people that have successfully done this. I agree that some batteries can be too far gone for it to work.

I have also tried the various tricks to refresh alkaline or lithium battery packs. Varied success rate. It is hard to beat starting with fresh cells.
