Speedtalk limit to picture posting?

Post by Carnut1 » Sun Oct 08, 2017 7:04 pm

Seems Speedtalk has a limit on pictures that can be posted to the board. Seems 1050 is the number. Too bad I had more to add. Took a used up 1.94" Chevy valve and applied an interesting surface treatment I wanted to share. Thanks, Charlie

They may have thought about that. Can't seem to attach pic. If you would like to message me your email address I could send the pic. Thanks, Charlie

I think this is a rule that could use changing. If someone is posting pictures of clouds on here, ok that's something to police. Pictures that help other's learn and understand....why would you limit that?

Well, I am more than a little upset about this. Please let me know of other forums I can enjoy. Thanks, Charlie

If you go into your user control panel under manage attachments you can see a list of all the pictures
you have posted. you can sort them by size , date etc.
If you look at the file size of your attachments you will see that
They are HUGE. many MiB's (MegaBytes)

Find the 10 or 30 biggest files and delete them.
then....
To make your file sizes smaller BEFORE you post them,
first resize and re save as a more compressed JPG file .
Get the file size under 200 KiB (kilobytes) and the picture resolution 640x480 OR LESS. (like 320x240)
Your pictures are HUGE and take up too much data and take too long to display.

You can use this free to download software to resize and re-save your pictures
to a more internet forumboard friendly file size before you post them.
Its free and has a small footprint.

Carnut, I just tried to attach your textured valve picture and it came up with the yellow triangle and it has a message that the board attachment quota has been reached. Maybe something is up and it's not just your photos.

Same here cgarb , i went to post some photos earlier today ,and got the yellow triangle and the message my board attachment quota had been reached .
I just added up the KiB of all my previous photo posts and the total was 2,766 which i didn't think was that much.

Should work now - I've increased board attachment quota.

there must also be a limit to the amount of viewers allowed on this site at one time.

I have been refused entry onto this site several times and simply had to come back later.

There have been three upgrades over the last few months where the forum was down. Two for forum software and one for a transition to a new server.

What was the error?

These happenings were last week, just yesterday and this morning.
I can't remember the error message number; the next time it happens I will be sure to write it down.
