Sounds snappy, exactly the way a smallblock with a 1050 should sound.

Re: BIG shout out to jmarkaudio on my 1050 conversion!!
Well we just got home after an awesome but very hot weekend in Sacramento. My son wanted to drive and get his licence passes so I let him even though he is still hurting. We made 4 - 1/8th mile passes at between 6.22 and 6.14 coasting to 10.30-10.20 at 98mph.His 5th pass we had to qualify for HR and decided to run it to just before the 1000' marker and it went 6.12 at 108mph and 9.75 at 120mph all with the track at between 130 and 138*. Took the car back and pulled plugs and installed new plugs for the 1st round of HR eliminations and dialed the car at 10.25 because we weren't allowed to go faster than 10.00. I figured we would let out 1/8th and coast just to see how the 1/8th time was not caring about the race.... Holy crap even with a 134* track the car went 6.04 at 111.99 and 10.16 at 98mph...
Mark Whitener is the man when it comes to Carbs. Never had to mess with jetting and the car is at least .4 faster and my son is sending in the papers tomorrow with all the signatures for his competition licence.....
We are happy campers!!

Nice CR, but I'm still amazed, Have you calculated roughly how much power is needed to gain .4s in the eight mile? I don't know about your car weight, but will guestimate 150-200HP improvementaf2 wrote:13.4:1 measured.

Glad to hear it's running well. A good gas carb would probably be closer, but in that ET/HP range alky usually will make a pretty decent improvement.

After running this weekend the oil looks like it did when I changed it in April when running gas. This thing idles extremely well and responsive.

Re: BIG shout out to jmarkaudio on my 1050 conversion!!
Well Ken define all season...one person's racing season may be a few outings and another may be 500 passes a year or more. I change my oil after every 55gals of fuel. Not because its milked and not any good, I just feel that's a good interval for me to measure by. George Ruepert sets up my carbs, they run well and are consistent. I use the leanout to save fuel on warmups. I do feel that getting heat into a motor fast is key to keeping condensation under control. My car does not have a vaccuum pump so it is a little more sensitive to condensation because the vac-u-pan set up don't do as good of a job pulling that off. Sure, I could warm up my car without a lean out but I would burn way more fuel doing it, I would rather spend my money racing not riding around in the pits.

Holy crap!! from 7:30 AM until racing started there were more cars going by than when the races started...LOLcgarb wrote: I would rather spend my money racing not riding around in the pits.
I told my sons that is why they only rev the engines to 6500 max to save them because of all the miles they put on them doing pit laps...
I'll take a 8500 burn out and shift between 8500 and 9000 any day and leave the car in the camping spot till we race..LOL
