Rough week
One buddy lost a kid through a miscarriage today, another buddy with mild cerebral palsey had a minor stroke sunday and lost 70% of his mobility, so pretty serious.. I was supposed to take him out to the bar in exchange for his Christmas present to me, but that's a no no now. In lieu of bar, him being stuck in a rehab center for his stroke, I was going to grab him some playboys and hustlers, but alas, blood pressure is his enemy at the moment. What would you give a good old boy stuck in physical rehab? Going to see him sunday. My 5 issues of American Hunter from my NRA membership? I'm at a loss.

Magazine for whatever he is into, cars, guns, model railroad, wood projects, etc. maybe an audio book/novel ? I am sure that after the visit you will have a better idea. Sorry for your troubles.Best wishes for your friends recovery.
Re: Rough week
I figure just visits with him while he is, "locked up", will really be a great gift!!
Help keep his spirits high...

or not.
Re: Rough week
The best thing you can give him is company and friendship.
Just don't behave any differently around him than you usually do. He knows he's been dealt a shitty hand, what he needs more than ever is a true friend.
If you can sneak in a little bit of contraband (something they won't let him have) it would probably lift his spirit.

Over the hill but still learning!
Retaining it is the hard part.

Re: Rough week
Kenova is right. Just go see him. There's nothing "right" or "wrong" to do or say. You don't have magic words or actions that will remedy his situation. Just be a friend.
I used to be a people person, but people ruined it.

Re: Rough week
I dropped him the magazines, salt, pepper, garlic powder, cinnamon, and a tin of pouch dip as he can only smoke from 9-8, if he gets a late night nic fit.. No diet restrictions, but the food there is as plain as jane. He was happy as a dog when the owner comes home. Spent a couple hours with him. Thanks guys!
