Dear Forum,

Can anyone advise if machining is required to install Comp 995-16 valve springs on a 1969 Pontiac 400 with No. 48 Heads and if so is there detailed requirements on the web?

Thanks

Im pretty sure we had to cut the seats on the set we did.I do know we got rid of the factory 2 pc valves and went to the RA IV length valves.Do not run the stock valves!Tom

And another thing is check the diecast aluminum front timing cover assy. that also mounts the water pump for corrosion. If it corrodes and leaks anti-freeze, it goes right into the engine.

My B-I-L had one corrode on his '67 'Bird's 400 engine way back years ago is how I know this may happen.
