Sounds like a morphed version of heads-up Super Stock racing.

Isn't that how Pro Stock came to be in the first place...?

I saw the Erica Enders facebook post. The NHRA is calling the EFI system that will be mandated "TBI"

I sure hope that is a typo or some marketing clown who has no idea what they're talking about, lol.

It's long past time for FI in Pro-Stock. =D> On Saturday Greg Anderson whined about the rev limit, and how much Summit money he would have to spend lol.

Can't wait for more details on the TBI's & control unit, McLaren?

The TBI thing got me too. I think they are trying to make it simpler to start out with, and somewhat retain the appearance of carbs that were such a big part of the class identity.

I'm 90% sure that was a mistake. True "TBI" injection is far worse at distribution than carburetion. Especially with engines cammed like these.

My next hope, which has perhaps a 1% shot, is that NHRA will let manufacturers battle with diferent ECUs. But having worked a little bit with the Pro Mods last year, I learned quickly how NHRA works. Highest bidder wins the spot. Which is going to mean another Foreign ECU like NASCAR (I love how NASCAR sells that as a Foreign ECU - BUT IT HAS AN AMERICAN PROCESSOR!!!! lol)

Sure hope NHRA comes through on that part, but not holding my breath.

Different ECU's, (and systems), would sure make it more fan interesting with, Fast, Holley. MegaSquirt, MSD, McClaren, Big Stuff, Accel and a whole slew of others competing against one another.
BUT... you are totally correct ... NHRA is all about the money and who will be the highest bidder to pay them the most for the rights.

Sounds like a high horsepower COPO Camaro you are describing ... for NHRA it is nothing but, "who will pay us the most money". Not about a real competition among vendors.

sorry to see them mandate the ECU. I was hoping for some competition to bring that class back to interesting.
Same old sad game that Glendora can't shake. Straight line NASCAR and it should not be.

Wonder what Holley had to pay the suits for that privilege?
Were they the only company with enough bank to back the play?

Was carb size limited before ?
And how does the new throttle area compare to the old ?

I don't know if carb size was limited but they all ran 2 dominators. I suspect the mandated injectors, as well as the maximum fuel pressure will be the limiting factors for horsepower though. I wonder if NHRA is doing this to kill the class.
