Hey guys I just wanted to give a quick update on dad.
We just got the results from his last MRI scan and everything is going well.
They couldn't even find the small tumors that were not removed in the surgery. :D
His doctor is very happy!
The newest treatments seem to be doing the job.
He is still staying very tired from the chemo treatments but he is still able to do some things.
Mostly going with mom to their favorite resturants.
We are even planning a family vacation to the beach later this year, we all need a break.
I can't wait to be on the beach with a Beer in one hand and a fishing pole in the other! :D

We have discussed making the trip just to sit and be spectators, but the family has decided we are taking a trip the same week as Engine Masters this year.
My uncle rented a monster of a beach house for the whole family so I'm sorry to say I will be sitting on a beach fishing and drinking beer while yall are having fun
I am trying to work out making it to PRI this year.
So maybe we will get to see most everybody there.

Hey everyone, I figured it has been too long between updates on Dad.
Sorry about that.

He is still fighting the fine fight, and according to the doctors his condition is still stable.

He is slowly getting less mobile, He is wheelchair bound and needs help with everything now.
I feel this is more due to the damage the treatments have done to his body.
His memory also seems to be getting slowly worse as well, again damage from chemo treatments.
It honestly is similar to someone with dementia now and less like someone with cancer.

The interesting part is that he still remebers most of the stuff with the shop and different engine combinations we have built for customers over the years, even down to part numbers we used in the builds.

I know this is not really the news anyone wanted to hear but it is the news that I have.
Thanks for all of the words of support from everyone.
I will try to not let so much time pass between updates now.

Ok guys things have steadily gone down hill for dad, he had a mild stroke a few weeks ago, spent most of the week in the hospital and now since being home he has just had a steady decline.

He is now to weak for anymore Chemo treatments so now We have gotten to the point now where we have made the decision for Hospice care to come in.

This has been a very long hard fight for him and now he is simply just worn out.

I will keep the Speed Talk family in the loop as much as I can.

Thank you all for the encouraging things and wishes of support and that have been said both on the open forum and in PMs.

Andy,
Feeling so bad for you guys. I've walked in your shoes and they are not very comfortable.
I hope you have good feelings about doing all you could for your Dad.
I had to keep telling myself how lucky I was to be in the position to give my Dad all the care and attention I could and that he deserved.
I considered it an Honor to do it for him.
Knowing you and your Dad and how close you two are I'm pretty sure you feel Honored to have cared for your Dad, too..
There are a lot of Sons that don't get to spend the twilight of their Fathers lives with them.
They are too busy or selfish to take time to do it.
They are the ones that have missed the joy of what you and I have experienced.
Letting go is a hard thing to do. It is the human trait of selfishness that makes us to want to keep our loved ones close to us.
Just love him and let him know how much you care.
May God bless you and Him!!
