We did not enter an SV-1. We merely did as a few others did ran a carburetor for someone else who entered (and paid the admission fee). Dale Cubic ran a carburetor for JDR, Zach from QFT tuned carburetors for a few other companies, Dave was going to tune Ray Edwards carburetor but unfortunately he couldn't get it sent over in time. Heck KB looked after Davinci's carb after Dan had to go home.

Actually the POW entry for the BB shootout was a 2.125 bore Braswell carb, the SV1 they planned to use did not arrive by the last day to make any pulls.

What was the difference between the SV1 & the Braswell, out of the box on the small block?

Sigh... More cheap shots... How about buying a carb off one of the companies who had the balls to attend? Leaves your chosen vendor out my friend... [-X

i'm not going to "sigh" to make this easier for you to understand ok. you've already blasted another guy on here for having trouble reading the post when its you who is the one who has a problem reading! i'll go slow for you...look to the right under my name ok? got it? can you figure it out know? i'm not a yank, not even close.

there is way more to a carb than telling us they were all within 1.3% diff in power...remember...you experts keep telling us its not all about peak power..now prove it!

I get what you are trying to say but just to be clear they actually weren't within 1.3% in horsepower as horsepower wasn't the parameter being judged in this competition, but rather average acceleration rate in rpm's per second between the defined rpm range with I believe was 4000 to 8000 rpm's for the small block shootout. So, the top 8 carbs in this class were within 1.3% in the average acceleration rate that was achieved over this rpm band.

As already explained the contest was about the acceleration rate not peak power.... Now I believe Mark has posted his dyno sheets, as well as Braswell. Braswell also mentioned that they treated the shootout like a customer ordering a carb for their combination (no testing before shipping the carbs out). What more do you want? You Canadians are a touchy lot....

The only info we get after all the smoke has cleared is "all the contestants were very close". Big deal, this tells us consumers nothing! I can't believe all the effort that was put into this contest to come away with the equivalent of a kiddie soccer banquet where everyone gets a trophy and there are "no losers". We are not even allowed to know whom had the best 4150 on the smallblock!

How well did the Holley score in comparison to a custom carb? Who knows!!

If next year will be the same, please let us know so that we will not waste any time with this. :x

Welcome to modern day competition.

Here's a question. Do any of you think that if the engines were changed and the competitors started another carb from scratch, or if there was more individual time for tuning, that the competitors would have placed exactly the same top to bottom?

It's hard to say but I'm sure with more tuning time, especially on the big block, almost everyone would have posted a higher score.
