Does anyone remember the 1/4 mile fuel records?

They were flying at Charlotte tonight.

Funny Car 3.995 @ 316.23

Top Fuel 3.748 @ 324.83

If neither vehicle accelerated from 1000' to 1320' (Constant velocity)

Funny Car 4.6849

Top Fuel 4.4557

As of Sept 21 2007:

Top Fuel : ET= 4.428_____ MPH = 336.15
Funny Car : ET= 4.659_____ MPH = 333.66

I don't think they were broken before the change to 1000' in 2008.
The MPH records were not set on the same dates as the ET records.

Today - Top Fuel 3.771 @ 325.92 ---> 4.4404 - 1000' to 1320' Constant velocity

The G's have to be up higher somewhere in the run.

Stan, One of them (TF) ran 328 mph @ 1000'. They were running 286 mph at the 660' and accelerated another 42 mph in 340'.

The latest calculations say they are applying 10,000 hp at mid track.

Your right, they were flying last weekend.

They are getting quicker, but don't forget in the 1/4 mile with all the multiple BSs they had imposed on them after 3.8 (I think) seconds the cars never really did much accelerating in the last 320 ft. anyway. The cars would have been a little quicker and somewhat faster than the 1/4 mile records would suggest, without all the nonsense rules being applied after 3.8 seconds. Of course the average fan thought they were watching flat out racing end to end, when in fact the cars were being neutered over the last part of the run.

A difference in velocity of about ► 493.02 - 478.016 = 15.004 fps over the last 320'

- Funny Car 3.964 ET @ 320.81 MPH ---> 4.6441 - 1000' to 1320' Constant velocity

How fast and quick can they go at 1000'?

A few weeks ago, a Top Fuel car ran 291 mph at the 660' lights (1/8th mile).

Just some nice fall east coast weather. How quick and fast can they go.

Yesterday
- Top Fuel 3.712 ET @ 334.15 MPH ---> 4.36495 - 1000' to 1320' Constant velocity

Today
- Top Fuel 3.701 ET @ 328.78 MPH ---> 4.36461 - 1000' to 1320' Constant velocity

this 1000 feet deal is a joke. let's go back to the 1320 we all know and love and then have the Don Garlits rule imposed. seal the engine. you can adjust the valves and check the crank, but the heads CANNOT come off. then we will see who the real racers are.

At Maple grove in qualifying we had these two passes against each other and it was not the usual nice fall east coast weather.
