1962 GTO Hawk Stude designer..

I was reading the NYT's just now and found out that Brooks Stevens designed the great looking early '60's Stude GTO Hawk.

I always thought that it was a redesign of Raymond Loewy's '53 Stude..

I wanted one of these so bad back in '63 or so that I damn near busted a nut!

Onna the Brothers that ran the old DX gas station in Atlanta, MO back in the early '60's tried one out fresh out of HS.

It was a '56 Golden Hawk loaded to the teeth.

Anyway, Dickie said he tried it and the Salesman said, "Son, let me show you just how this little beauty will run" and away they went and above say 140 or even higher, Dickie said take me back to my car.. He, he!!

Dickie ended up buying a '56/'57 DeSoto Hemi 727 push button automatic car that would run at least as fast but was a way bit bigger than the Stude..
