Help STOP terrorist from Fed. trial

Post by PFC1 »

Here is a link to sign a petition to help stop the terrorists from being allowed a Federal court trial. https://www.aclj.org/petition/

If the people get tried and convicted w/o the reading of the miranda rights it will have an impact on everyone in the future, or else they will all get off for not having the rights read to them.

Bret, I am not so sure that most in Congress at present care much about the concerns of their constituents. With the exception of around 20 - 30 Republicans and 1 Independent that I can think of, the rest of them seem only to be concerned with lining their pockets, acquiring power and influence and staying in office.

Nevertheless, I have signed the petition.

And I for one, will do my darndest to send as many of the current crop of spineless 'go along to get along' types packing, should they sell us out and fail to put a stop to the radical socialist agenda of those now running the show in Washington.

Looking forward to 2010 and 2012,

Harry

In every previous war, prisoner of war held by the US were released after a period of time without being tried. The same was true of US soldiers held by others.

Now we have the longest American war on record with no end in sight. A War on Terrorism could go on for fifty years much like the cold war.

We fight for what we believe (well sometimes), and so does our opposition. Attempts to demonize people fighting for their cause devalues our morality.

David, 2 points......

1. We are a free and sovereign nation and have every right to defend ourselves against attack from our enemies. Doing so in no way 'devalues our morality'. In fact, we have a moral obligation to defend ourselves when attacked...... To include preemptive action when necessary.

Were we to shirk our responsibility to do so...... That would in fact 'devalue our morality'. I do not accept your premise of 'moral equivalency' on the part of the terrorists. America did not bring these attacks on herself and those such as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright who assert that 'America's chickens are coming home to roost' are full of it.

2. These are not 'prisoners of war' serving in uniform in the armed forces of a nation at war with America, David. These terrorists are civilian 'enemy combatants' captured on the battlefield and under the Geneva Conventions, they fall in the same category as the several German spies and saboteurs who came ashore here in civilian attire from U-boats just off our coastline during WWII.

These people were captured, tried by military tribunal, found guilty and promptly executed by firing squad...... Same as was done to our own spies and saboteurs captured in similar circumstances in Axis controlled territory. There is a longstanding legal precedent both priour to and following WWII of trying such enemy combatants by military tribunal...... And thereby not compromising security by divulging military intelligence and other information useful to the enemy that will ultimately be used against our own troops now serving in harm's way abroad.

From a purely practical perspective...... Trying foreign enemy combatants in civilian court here Stateside and according them rights constitutionally reserved for American citizens is unprecedented in America and cannot be done without aiding the enemy and costing American lives.

And from a political perspective...... No good will come of the long, drawn out and televised 'show trial' by which the present administration obviously intends to put America and the former administration on trial rather than the terrorists now in custody...... For the express purpose of diverting public attention as they attempt to push through their radical socialist agenda.

Misdirection is an old magician's parlour trick. And in this instance, a large segment of the American public is already onto them...... So the present administration's efforts will only serve to create a backlash that will ultimately drive them from power. If they persist in this, their own arrogance will be their undoing.

Sincerely,

Harry
