talk about a mismatched combo !!!!!!

Post by jason snyder »

I just bought a big block off craigslist . I went out and immediatly identified the block as a 366 !! I WAS bummed , BUT the heads !!! THEY ARE 3919842 aluminum l88-l89 heads !! YAH im happy now ....anyway this dude built the 366 with all new parts ,and stuck in a large hyd flatt tapet ,(ALL THE PISTONS have valve contact) THEN PUTS the rectangle l88 heads on it !!!! AND THE BEST PART , HE HAD A EDELBROCK VICTOR TD , WITH A 1050 DOMINATOR ON TOP ...

THE guy said he was mad his boat would not plane out and run ... I BET !
any way i paid 750.00 for it ,and found out those heads are also rebuilt and in prestine condition . should fetch over 2k for them .

SO have you witnessed a bigger turd ?

OH man you shoulda heard this guy ! he thought he was john force .. And of course after i saw the heads ,i acted like an idiot to lower the price ! it started at 1500.00 bucks .....

I was trying to figure out what this engine had for compression ratio?
but there isnt much info on the 366 ... i know the heads are 107cc , and the pistons have two very small valve reliefs .. i figure it had somewhere aroound 7.1 compression !!!! am i close ?

As I recall the oem 366 was "rated" at 8.0:1. It had flat top 4 ring pistons, "peanut port" intake ports and open chamber, forged crank, tall deck.

Did this boy have some long rods that you can use or a stupid tall piston?

Sounded like a toilet flushing! Oh how many people out there have thought they could build a race engine to only blame the poor running engine on the brand.

Im working on one of those screwed up combos now. A friend had someone put an engine together (355 sbc) with a hydraulic roller and 9:1 compression. It has 195cc heads and get this, a team G intake and a 950 carb. The car weighs 3500lbs and has NO stall speed in the converter and a 3:42 gear. Now he wants me to fix it for 50.00 because of all the money he has spent already.
