Where would be a good place to look for info on a 1971 C10 chassic? Do not know where to start.

Application is another. A Bonneville truck will need much different chassis than a swamp-buggy.

I thought about welding a metric front end on my 70. That cross member is a real heavy piece under the front of that truck
