crankshaft oil holes

Does anyone know anything about proper oil hole positioning or "clocking" in crankshafts, in particular supposed problems with Callies oil hole placement.

Please, I too would like to hear opinions on clocking of the oil holes. Most standard cranks have the oil hole where it suits the rod-main transfer drilling. I've obseved a remarkable improvement in my bearing life by cross drilling at 90 degress. Hence, it makes me believe a more careful approach to the drilling angle could develop the required flow without the excess flow I now observe. I hate to go back to losing cranks during the learning process if someone already has the science.
