ovalport bbc flow problems?

Post by Backis »

I have now flowed my heads several times whith different valves and i am a little confused about what happens? So that no one missunderstand
its no porting rule and cam lift .398! It seems that i cant get the heads flow
any better when i increase the lift from .350-..400 and iam not sure what to do or is it just me lacking in expiriens. Here is my good numbers and bad numbers and what can i expekt in horsepower on a 396 stocker?
.050 36.6
.100 77.8
.150 107.8
.200 140.6
.250 169.3
.300 196.3
.350 214.5
.400 225.9
this is the bad one?

.050 37
.100 71
.150 106.2
.200 144.9
.250 177.8
.300 205.2
.350 224.3
.400 240.8
this is the good one

i now it should be some diffrens between the short runner and the long runner but i havent flowed so many bbc ovals so i dont now how much you can tolerate in differens betwen them.

I have tried the tips i got from you 32 degre backcut on intake and 37 on exhaust the 32 on intake helped a little but the 37 make no change at all
havent done anything about the seats yet because i am not sure what to do anyone got any tips about them?

Going to try some ferrea valves and milodon in the next step currently running manley.
