Tool steel pins

Post by Walline »

I have a set of tool steel pins for a SBC (tapered wall .125 in the center) they are for an old set of floater pins I have lying around. I considered using them on a press fit (budget motor) I am building is this a bad idea. Will the pressure of the rod be to much for that pin(.125 wall) Has any one tried this before. THANKS!! I would love to have the wieght loss!

-I've run'm a lot but I make sure the pressfit is not terribly tight, like .0008" to .0010", and then I press fit them with a hand operated arbor press rather than heat the small end of the rod.
-If you have them pressed in at at .0006" they will stay but if the pistons make contact with the heads the pins WILL work out the sides.
