dome piston with a Vortec head

I really like the small block Chevy Vortec head [original factory castings 062 or 906] and have built several strong running bracket race engines using them. They are expecially suited for mild, auto trans combos because of a broad power curve.
So far, I have only built flat top, flat tapppet, 355 - 360 combos. I usually flat mill the heads about .040 and that usually gives about a 60cc - 61cc chamber.
My question, have any of you experimented with a small dome piston using the Vortec head? Due to the spark plug location I "think" the dome would need to be a simple "bar type dome" down the piston center.
Any experience or comments. Just looking for some added compression, maybe add a point of compression.
Thanks
